I know it's early, but just thought I'd chime in. Buzz around Hollywood is that Sam Raimi is interested in casting Elisha Cuthbert as the role of Felicia Harding, otherwise known in the Spidey comics as The Black Cat.

And for those of you who are wondering who the next villian will be...watch Spider-Man 2 and you'll figure it out.

Black Cat doesn't necessarily have to be the villain. I think it would be interesting to have a secondary storyline going on with her where she's more of an ambiguous character...a mystery plot.

And I highly doubt Harry is going to be the villain next film...it'll be at least until the 4th that he shows up as some kind of Goblin. I'd lay money on it.

And other sites are reporting Eliza Dushku up for Felicia. Don't you love rumor sites?

Venom's Marvel Universe listing circa 1989 (http://www.marveldirectory.com/individuals/v/venom.htm)

Yeah, it's about 15 years old, but it covers his origin and the follow-up stories, which are really the only good Venom stories out there. After that, they tried to make him some kind of "anti-hero," he got a zillion mini-series, and just generally became more annoying than anything else.

The most retarded part about Venom, is that they built him up as this major foe of Spidey, who knew all of his secrets and had these amplified versions of Spidey's powers, but between those first Michelinie/McFarlane stories and when he became a "good guy," he did absolutely dick for years with everything he knew/had. He became a very neutured character, and really just a badly repeated version of himself. Despite what people think, he hasn't been interesting at all for over a decade.

If you can find the trade below, it's worth reading, because outside of the current stuff written by Brian Michael Bendis and the guy who made "Babylon 5," that period was really the last era of "classic" Spidey stories.

Man, does Mojo know everything about everything? No offense, I am just impressed.

Anyway, I still have yet to see Spider-Man 2 and I will this weekend but I have kept thinking about the Venom character. I have to read that link up above to re-read where he came from and all. So much of the Spider-Man story I forget bvecause it has been so long since I read the comics. Hell, my reading comprehension was so bad that I woul djust skim most of the time and try and get the jist of the story. That was years ago though.

I heard the Stan Lee interview on Don & Mike and he commented how there were giveaways to who the 3 villan would be in the current film. I will definitely have to see this more than once then.

She was riveting in those old "Popular Mechanics For Kids" television episodes she used to host for the Discovery kids channel. Really brought a lot to the character.

Heard the same thing - really good interview.

Don't be surprised if there are conflicting clues in the movie - they did a good job keeping the audience guessing. They can easily pick up one of three threads left from #2, or do what they did and plop in something completely unique.

It's wide open!

Enjoy the movie!!

From what little I know & what I've read, that would imply either a 2nd Goblin or the Lizard. I'm sure there were others I either missed or they went right over my head (much like the files on the computer screen in X2)...anyone care to fill in a curious brother?

Well, #2 set up the Lizard, Venom, and a second coming of the Green Goblin.

The easiest would be the Goblin redux, since *****SPOILER***** Harry found his father's secret stash of Goblin paraphenalia.

The next most obvious would be the Lizard. In the first one, Doctor Connors fired him, and in the second one Connors was teaching a class of Peter's. All seems to be set up for a Lizard sighting in the near future. I think a Green Goblin/Lizard combo in #3 would be the shit.

Now for those of you who dont know, Venom is a symbiote brought back from space by the astronaut that MJ was getting ready to marry. Venom would be fuckin awesome, but for some reason, I just don't see it happening in #3.

But, Kirtsen Dunst has said that she doesnt want to be in another Spider-man after #3. So, they may try and jam as many villains into one last hurrah.

Now if they were smart, Doc Oc Would have survived, and they would have had the sinister 6 make an appearance.

Spoken like someone who's never read a comic book. Pick up the Secret Wars trade. Spidey was on an alien world and his costume was trashed. He got a new costume from a machine, that turned out to be an alien symbiote after he got back to earth.

The John Jameson spaceship story was from the 90's cartoon.

that being the case, unless they change the plot into something more along the lines of what mike said, venom definately won't be in the third one because there is no way they would be able to write that into the story

I don't think the principal actors are gonna wanna do that many more Spiderman movies...I hear Tobey and Kirsten are losing interest...they don't wanna be type casted and such (see aintitcoolnews)

as far as im concerned, they should do one more and that's it...

there's so many other great stories to be told in the marvel universe...hell, in the comic universe...

If he phrased it like that, I'm gonna put my money on the Lizard.

What was the name of the character Astronaunt Jameson becomes? I know it's not Venom (or Carnage or the other symbiotes they tried to pass on us after Venom was a big seller. I think people just liked that black spiderman costume)

Just that "Here's your change" line, but certainly not the Spider Man I know.
