View Full Version : Anybody Remember Bob Wischusen?

Listening to WFAN today I noticed how, with the exception of Mike & The Maddog and Steve Sommers, pretty much the ENTIRE STATION has cleaned house in the last 4 or 5 years. I was thinking back to some old personalities and I remembered Bob Wischusen. This guy may STILL be my favorite host ever on WFAN. He had a great voice, easy to listen to, great sports know-how, and he wasn't horribly condescending to the callers (unlike 98% of FAN hosts today). I remember the day he left, he mentioned that he'd be moving on to cover the Jets on Fox... I think he may still be doing that, but I know he does Rangers hockey on MSG.

For a while, they were using him with Ian Eagle to replace Mike & Dog for their summer-long vacations...I believe they dubbed the show "Jew & the Gentile" & even had a spoof of the Mike & Mad Dog opening song. The annoying thing about then was that they sounded almost exactly alike on the air which, when added to Bob's corny-ass schtick, made me hate both of them.
Ian went away to become the voice of the Nets (I never watch or listen to basketball, so that was fine), but Bob started popping up on Comcast channel 8 doing everything from Minor League baseball games to High School girl's softball & I couldn't get away from the guy for about a year. Then he seemed to fall off the face of the earth & I was OK with that.

I may go to Rider but I'll always be Marist Mike. Maria Sharapova is the future mother of my children.
