They're all overpaid the only reason they make so much is because the owners are willing to pay it
And the only reason the owners are willing to pay it is because they rape the fans with ticket prices (less so in baseball when compared to NHL/NFL/NBA, but still not cheap) & consessions. Otherwise, the ballplayers would be more reasonably paid, but the owners would just be getting a bigger chunk of the pot. They're overpaid because the money is there & the owners are stupid.

In a weird way, I don't think they're overpaid. Who draws the fans in? Who sells the merchandise? The players, plain and simple. I think professional sports is one of the few job fields where the "employees" are actually paid a salary based on what they "make for the company," whereas the rest of us suckers get dick. I technically make my company 10 million dollars a year, and I barely see squat out of that. Someone like Jeter is earning Lord-knows-how many millions of dollars for the Yankees...and he's actually getting a good chunk of that.

HI..... that would be me... i have season sundays for the mets and i try to go and see the T-Wolves play the local teams.... don't feel sorry for the little none players they make good money as well.. they make any where from $750,000 a year and up... remember they are all part of unions....

He said, its Simple. Something is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it. A pen? What's it worth? To some, not much, but some people will pay Tens of Thousands of dollars for a single Pen, or Autograph, or name your memorbilia here.

I see these guys as Memorobilia. A product; bought, sold, traded, haggled over, etc.

They get paid what someone is willing to pay them.

I don't begrudge these guys for making so much money. They have a talent that is scarce and in great demand. I don't like the ticket prices but I still go so I guess it's a supply and demand kind of thing. I still value baseball games more than the money I have to spend to see them.

if by allstar you mean very popular then yes you are right...but he is by no means an allstar this year...that is why i think the voting needs to be changed for the allstar game.. it is a popularity contest and a true allstar game.

I don't begrudge these guys for making so much money

in the present system i don't begrudge the players. if the team is making the money then the owners and players should get their fair share. but paying 5 bucks for a 15 cent hot dog and 5 bucks for a 25 cent glass of beer, along with the price of tickets, parking, and everything else, so these guys can be 'extremely' wealthy is not sensible to me. Cut their slaries in half, owners and players and cut the price of everything else in half and maybe. The players and owners will still be wealthy people and not want for anything and it will show some consideration for the fan. And pay the people working the concessions a bit more and give them better benefits, they probably get paid shit.

But you know that corporations purchase alot of the quality seats so they get their money anyway. Corporations, they cut your medical, dental, and retirement benefits but they hold onto their box seats and sky boxes.

We got to put and end to this injustice, we can start right here on the board. From this day forward all RonFez board members will boycott professional sports.
