The minute Shaq stated he wanted out of L.A. Miami was immediatley considered a possibility along with Dallas. Orlando was a possibility, yes. As far as the Knicks and Nets I regret to inform you that you are wrong on various different levels. First of all the Knicks couldn't afford him unless Shaq was willing to suddenly undergo a massive pay cut (which he isn't as evidenced by the fact that he wants an extension at his current salary). Neither could the Nets now that they are under new ownership and trying to cut payroll ( as evidenced by the current situation with Kenyon Martin). And Shaq never even remotely gave any attention to either team. If you mean, that you heard some NY sports radio host mention either of those two teams that's a totally different story, but it also is anything even remotely close to legitimate.

This is the point that I'm trying to make. Most evidence points at the fact that this trade is bogus. Chicago's problem certainly isn't offense, and they have Valentin at SS. Nomar has been touted as going to a total of about 4 or 5 teams since he has come back and still he's in Boston. First it was L.A. for Odalis and Izturis, then it was to the Cubs for Matt Clement, then it was to Anaheim, andnow its to the White Sox, etc. I wouldn't take the newest hottest rumor and plaster it as a done deal. Chicago papers and radio today, however, are saying that the Sox are asking for too much and the Cubs may be looking to pick up Orlando Cabrera. And the original rumor was the Cubs the White Sox didn't surface until yesterday, the Cubs rumor has been reported for about two weeks now. its the same deal with Cabrera. he has made it obvious he doesn't want to play for Montreal. so they know they will lose him to. that's why they signed Vidro before him. it won't cost that much to get Cabrera from the Expos.
