Whaaaaaaaat?!?! And here I thought he was a Bull Moose the entire time...

If he had won, the main difference is obviously that we wouldn't have gone into Iraq...there wouldn't have been the tax cuts...we wouldn't have pulled out of Kyoto (I'm not saying doing so is right or wrong, just that we wouldn't have), and stemming from that, we wouldn't have pissed off the rest of the world as much as Bush has. And I'm not saying he'd be a better president...I highly doubt it, and I think he would have meandered just as much as Bush, just slightly more to the left. Post-9/11, I think the response would have been nearly identical. Bush didn't do anything above and beyond the call of duty in our actions right after 9/11...as David Cross said, "NADER would have bombed Afghanistan after that."

Not to stray on-topic again, but I've wondered before whether 9/11 would have happened had Gore been in office. I think it's been shown that Al Queda was on Clinton's radar more than Bush's. It stands to reason the there'd be a continuation of the effort against bin Laden if Gore had won, rather than essentially a stoppage and then resumption of the same approach about 9 months later.

I know some people feel Clinton was weak on terror, but from what I've read, I disagree, and it's clear that Bush did little in his first 8 months on the issue.

In general, I think people underestimate Gore.

We can only guess at what Gore would have done after 9/11.

It is possible that he would not have ignored all of the warnings of an oimpending attack by Al Qaeda.
I believe part of the reason the Bush administration ignored those warnings was because they were intent on a disciplined approach, and that meant not getting distracted from missile defense.

We can safely say that we would not be facing the now traditional Republican Record Deficit to pay off.

Perhaps some of the right-wingers on the board have some ideas on how to pay it off.
