You must set the ad_network_ads.txt file to be writable (check file name as well).

Does anyone know of a software package that will record whatever video is playing on my PC at anyone given time?

You might try Pinnacle Studio 8 or 9. It's good editing software and allows a variety of sources for video/audio input.
