One girl in my office is getting married in a couple of weeks, another two got engaged over the past two weeks, and every time I sign on here I see Congrats to Jeff & Missy.
For a woman, marriage is a no brainer - she has nothing to lose other than the stigma of having never been married. But for a guy, it's such a risky proposition. You meet a girl, you fall in love, you get married, and the next thing you know she gets tired of you and then YOU owe her money!
I'm sorry, I just can't fathom that. I'm the type of guy who doesn't buy a lottery ticket or go to Atlantic City, why would I risk it all to get married?
Don't get me wrong, I know that getting married is NORMAL and I can see the logic in it - you meet a girl, you fall in love, the thought of her with another guy makes you sick to the point of panic, so you ask her to marry you. It could happen to anyone.
But let's face it - if dating was actually FUN, why would any guy get married?

Statistically, at least half of them will be getting DIVORCED left and right.
God forbid, of course.

if the woman makes more money than the man in the marriage, then she ends up owing him money.
it's a cop out. if you're so worried about your money, then get a prenup.

3 of my friends just got engaged within a month of each other. 2 of those friends are marrying each other, so at least that's one less check i'll have to write. but at least i have 2 great parties to look forward to.
i have a friend who is in 6 weddings this year...3 of them were in 3 months of each other. that's gotta suck!

Don't get married. It is obviously not for you. For others, like myself, its a very cool thing.

Nah, how often does that happen? And if the guy cheats on his wife, does she still owe him? I doubt it. But if a guy cheats on his wife, forget about it - back up the Brinks truck.
it's a cop out. if you're so worried about your money, then get a prenup.
"Hey, baby, I love you, but let's get a prenup" = no way we're staying married forever. Maybe a celebrity or a mogul can get away with this, but if a regular guy wants one, it's detrimental to the relationship - it breeds suspicion and resentment.

I know of 3 couples that got engaged this month alone.
I have a feeling I'm going to be single forever.
but if a regular guy wants one, it's detrimental to the relationship - it breeds suspicion and resentment.
That's because girls are insecure.

alot of people get engaged so they feel less guilty about doing the nasty out of wedlock... a Catholic thing
then instead of hell they'll stay in purgatory which isn't heaven but it sure beats hell...
or is that limbo?
