I figure what the hell, this gets locked it gets locked but with all due respect to the Yankees and mets (the Home Teams) I wanna give a forum for the other teams. My Phillies, Duke's Padres, Fallon's Red Sox, Bama's Braves, Mojo's Cubs, Mikeyboy's O's, Hasegawa's A's and whatever other fans lurk of other teams. This can be a shoot all for all those "other's".

Tis the All-Star break and I must say i am feeling a bit flat on the Phils. The NL East scares me witht he parity this season and just plain mediocrity of all teams involved. Naturally, I am always feeling the short end of the stick (especially tonight that ball was FOUL dickweed) and the Mets and braves are playing their asses off and our pitching STINKS! Stinks I say!

The hot rumor about us getting Matt Morris and Steve Klein from the Cardinals (why they would give them up is beyond me) for Deadwood and my personal favorite Placido Polonco (CLUTCH) I think would be a very good move. We would get a decent starter and a good middle releif guy. Sure, Polonco would be a loss but Chase Utley can fill in perfectly. We need a centerfielder and Steve Finley's name has been floating around. So has Carlos Beltran (AGAIN) if the Astros continue to slide. I would love Finley. We need a role player and we need.......a..........CENTERFIELDER! Marlon Byrd was a supreme dissapointment and is not exactly setting the minors on fire. We have two stud pitchers in AA (Cole Hamels and Gavin Floyd but they are untouchable. The only guy who has value down there is Ryan Howard who is tearing it up with 32 HR's and being a 1st baseman is going nowhere cause Thome is locked in for another 5 years. I am hoping we make some kind of a move before the deadline. Not too sure if we can top last years QUALITY pick up of Mike Williams and Valerio De Los Santos. BAH!

Yeah there are other teams than the Yankees and Mets and even though i am a Yankee fan I do like to see what's going on in the rest of MLB....to be honest the AL is between the Yankees and the Red Sox....but the NL is nowadays the NFL without the F there's so much parity....if WWE was still WWF the NL could have made get the F out shirts.....the NL has let's admit the NL Least right now.....the division came to the Mets not the other way around....Phils are underachieving....sorry flutter....the Cardinals are doing great.....I personally think that my grandmother has something to do with that...she loved the Cardinals...God bless her soul...the Cubs are doing great and I'm laughing at those two fuckheads in Houston right now for leaving when that team is falling quicker than an anvil on Wil E Coyote....as for the West idk if San Diego is for real and certainly don't count out Barry and the Giants because he sometimes just takes that team on his back....the NL is just too unpredictable

The NL wildcard is probably coming out of the central so the division races are crucial. Chipper and Andruw are coming around and Giles will be back after the break. The Braves will take care of business in the 2nd half just like they always do. Then they'll lose to the team that will eventually beat the Yankees in the WS just like they always do.

Oakland's making me want to vomit recently, any team who gets swept by Boston in July doesn't deserve to play in October, though they did face our worst pitchers: Zito, Harden and Redman and also teed off the worst bullpen in the AL...Beane's got some work to do if he wants another AL West pennant.

Who is Karim Garcia?? I no respect heem.

Very quietly, Randy Johnson has told the Arizona Diamondbacks that he would waive his no-trade clause in order to pitch out his final years for a contender, most preferably the Yankees.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/story/210387p-181323c.html

D-Backs need to get some quality young talent, Navarro and maybe Duncan, and or Contreras fully paid. They need to give up on this season, 20 games back.

Angels are also interested, but the Diamondbacks would no doubt want one of Jeff Mathis, Casey Kotchman or Dallas McPherson in return. (all blue chip prospects)

Johnson is owed 24 million dollars this year.

Phils are underachieving....sorry flutter

You're telling me? Besides their offense of late and Bobby Abreu just being ON, they are underacheiving. All we heard over the winter was how great they were going to be. How deep our pitching staff was. Deep? What the FUCK is Paul Abbott doing here? Wasn't there a clue, a CLUE Mr. Wade that the Devil Rays (pre win streak mind you) dropped him? The WORST team in the leauge drop this guy and we pick him up? What is that? Monday was such a joke with Abbott going against a revived Glavine? We won ont he strength of our bullpen? They have been money in the recent weeks with Madson (NL Rookie of the Year candidate), Worrell and Cormier coming around. Wags has been light's out (when he wasn't mopping up). Roberto Hernandez? I thought we got rid of Jose Mesa. Mesa is lights out this year! What is that? Wait, give it till next season and he will tank like he did here in Philly after a great year. Bum!

Utley and Perez....DIE

Jerry Davis.....DIE!

It never would have come to that if it were not for Furcals first NON-homer. That thing was foul. We still won but it shoul dhave never come to that.

What is going on with the umpiring this year around the leauge? It has been dreadful.

I just want the Dodgers to get some offense. Carlos Delgado would be nice. I think they have a chance as there's a lot more offensive help on the market than there is pitching.

Of course I am just irritated cause I want to see a niught game at the new park. Sure, I could go any night but I was hoping for some nights with the Sunday ticket plan. Oh well.

I keep hearing about the Mets getting Johnson. I hope not cause that will be the end for us but in the same regard it would mean the Yankees not getting him. Besides, he said he wants to stay in the NL to better his chances at a Cy Young this year.

By the way, anyone see Mr. Johnson and Luis Gonzalez go at it last night? I heard it was pretty nuts.

It has to be bad to get the curse words out of Duke. I am so close to adopting the Dodgers becasue I just love gagne and something about that team really makes me moist. May also have something to do with how Branch Rickey came to my Great Uncles home back inthe 50's begging him to sign with Brooklyn and my Great Aunt made him turn it down. Damn it all. He could have been right in there with Jackie, Pee Wee and the Duke.

I am also officially going on record now saying if the Phillies make ZERO move by the deadline we are done. Juyst absolutely pathetic the pitching staff on this team. We have not gotten out of the 6th inning in the last month and a half. Disgraceful! Thome is like 30 for his last 150 I think. Then to hear my Grandmother, God bless her, say how she will never see the Phillies win another World Series. I barely remember 1980. Is this my lot in life as a Phillies fan? I guess I will just deal. Also for the record, good luck to the mets and Braves. This Division will be yours for the taking because I know that the boh of you will make moves to win NOW! And to think that our slogan at the beginning of the season was "Now Is The Time 2004". Might as well be 2104 the rate things are going.

That's fluffer pal. Don't you forget it cheif! Good one genius.

Sorry, I am a bit edgy. I kid. I kid.

Moves I have in mind.....

Well, St. Louis rejected our offer for Matt Morris and Steve Klein for Deadwood and Placido Polanco. I would trade Deadwood for a bag of balls or some extra onions on my cheese steak at this point. Wait, thats an insult to onions. Just to get him out of here. There are new rumors floating around about us getting Derek Lowe straight-up for Deadwood. Which would be ok I guess but Boston would not be friendly to him if he keeps performing like he has. Fallon, any comments or opinions on Lowe and this trade rumor? I am glad to be keeping Polanco because he is clutch although not as much of late. Chase Utley is our 2B man of the future and Polly is a Free Agent at the end of the year. Good thing I didn't get the jersey yet.

There is also a rumor of us gtting Barry Zito from Oakland for Chase utley and gavin Floyd (our gem in the minors). I would do it. Granted we would be losing our future 2B man of the future, we would be getting a bonafide ace which we so desperately need. Reportedly our GM Idiot said that we woul dbe giving up too much. Hey Mr. Wade, I don't know about you but I want to win NOW. Hence our slogan for the season mentioned above.

Livan Hernandez is available from montreal but they are asking a fortune. I also heard that he is untouchable because of the move to DC next year and they want some big names to be on the squad for the team. Which is also why Brad Wilkerson is not available.

We need a Centerfielder badly. Steve Finley would be ideal for our squad. Randy Johnson tacked onto any kind of trade with arizona woul dbe a complete orgasm but we have NEVER made any kind of big signifigant trade mid season like that. if we would, I would think I was dreaming. Only the Yankees do moves like that and get the big names, They're not afraid to spend and therefore they always win. I would love to have some of that spirit leak down the Delaware River and infect our GM with some of that disease.

So yeah, thats all I can think of.

And its fluffer buddy!

Well....yes, I shoul dhate the Yankee's becasue they are rich and blah blah blah but that is just how it is and I deal. I don't hate them as a team either. Derek Jeter is one of my favorite players cause the guy plays balls out every game. So many players on that team earn my respect like Bernie and Mike Mussina.

It is moreso the Yankee fans and their smug snobbish attitude that I hate. Not all of them mind you, some of the people on this board are Yankee fans and don't have that attitude at all. Just some of the other idiots I have run into when I was in the city working a few years back and more of the upper class scumbag socially elite filth that bugged me. Kind of like the upscale Laker fans and Cowboy fans. Such garbage.

After reading the Season threads on here though and hearing some of the calls on the fans, I hear the same kind of passion and heart that I have for my teams. You always want them to win. Who doesn't want their team to do well? Granted it irritates me when there is a "Oh this one hurts" attitude because you just won a World Series three years ago and you can't win every year. Then again if the shoe was on the other foot, how would I feel. I try to be so in the middle when it comes to fandom and it is such an argument that really has no end. Just like I would be happy to win a Championship of anykind right now and suffer for another 20 years than to win 3 or 4 in a row and got he rest of my life without one. That's the thing, I don't know what it is like to have a hometown champion practically year aftyer year so maybe that is why I feel the way i do.

Minnesota I have no problem with at all and the Blue Jays, I can't help that Mitch Williams put the ball onto Joe Carters bat for the game winner. That would be the only grudge I could even think of having against them.

No, JD Drew didn't want to play for us. At that point in time I couldn't blame him. Rolen DEMANDED to be traded cause he hated Bowa and wanted to play for a contender. Fine. I miss the hell out of his PLAY but not the person at all. besides, if Rolen would have stuck around we woul dhave never gotten Thome. So no, i am not that bitter about that. Phillies have probably their best opportunity in the longest time to be a playoff force and win the divison. I mean how long has it been since the Braves stopped being first??? Also the west is a weak division in comparison to years past, so its prime time to play the west when the team w/ the best record (cards) gets to play the wild card probably coming out of the central or east. But if the cubs r the wild card then the Phillies BETTER be ready to pitch decently to at least spare some embarrassment. ZITO IS GOD. 26 years old and moving into his prime. CY Young winner. Bonafide ace. Yes, i noe his numbers have been declining but ever hear of having too much talent to be this bad? He's a 2nd half, post-Allstar player.

Zito
Millwood
Padilla
Wolf
Madson (he's supposed to get the spot possibily) or Myers
Possibily with Hamel coming in the future.

G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA
Pre All Star 76 76 29 22 0 2 1 478.2 454 228 210 60 175 379 3.95 1.31 .250
Post All-Star 61 61 36 14 0 7 3 400.1 285 137 113 24 162 317 2.54 1.12 .199

He is definitely worth it, but I personally would love seeing the A's getting a hot bat Utley and a nice young pitcher. Plus for you moneyballers.., Blanton the supposed best righthander in the 2001 draft is primed for a 2005 season. Get rdy for a big 5.

Hudson
Mulder
Harden (he's projected to be an ace and has an astronomical ceiling for growth)
Blanton
Floyd (i admit he's supposed to be a top 25 prospect)

But this is granted if we keep them all. It still amazes me that the A's continually replenish their team after losses of Giambi, Tejada, and Foulke with only a salary of 60 mill.

B.o.B.

Not even White Sox fans?

Only if they have a chance of winning something significant. Otherwise, they're not worth our time.

If Millwood will be our 2 then I might as well start getting ready for the Eagles. If and I mean IF we get Zito or Lowe or Hernandez millwood is hardly a 4. At best a 4. A rotation of Wolf, Milton, (Insert aquisition here),Padilla and then Myers. Ryan Madson is on fire in the middle relief and has been the life of the bullpen. If memory serves me correct his only start this year he got torched by the White Sox and was out before the first inning was over. But this is all nonsense anyway since we won't aquire shit and the way things are going I'll be seeing Millwood panting on a stool in the on deck circle in Florida sometime in mid-December. Hamels and Floyd if they are not used in a prominent trade will be our 4 & 5 next season. Providing Hamels elbow is not still giving him problems.

It's really a shame cause event hough the fan base is around 5000 and thats being generous that new Ballpark would have just revitalised that franchise and maybe even given them to opportunity to hold onto Vlad and Vasquez among others. They have become a glorified AAA ballclub. I always had a little liking for the Expos cause they were from Montreal and they had some really bad years and cause of being a huge Canadiens and Alouettes fan. But I will make my final venture to The Big O in September for their last weekend series against the Phils. Look at the great availability of seats.

http://www.admission.com/mlb/images/showseats/0068_1cdytW.png

Amazing. I guess people just don't care anymore unless they are competing for the playoffs. That Stadium is so cavernous it is kind of like walking through a Jersey Flea Market and then through these doors, a big open half empty stadium. Again, amazing. I am really craving a Smoked Meat sandwich and some Poutinne right now though. MMMMM!

Still, the Phils talking head says we are good enought o compete but we are looking to add some improvements to our ballclub. There is an offer ont he table for Steve Finley right now. Man do I hope.

By far the most dissapointing win I have ever seen.

Doug Glanville, way to go not only tripping over your own feet in the outfield but tripping over the warning track, not only blowing the No hitter for Eric Milton but blowing his chance at a Complete Game shutout while you are at it. It was just such a magical feeling to be involved in such as thing today as I was stuffing my face with Crab fries and then I just got sick. We won, yeah. But DAMN if it couldn't have been a real boost before this hellacious road trip. 4 in Florida, 3 in Chicago, 3 in San Diego and 3 in LA. If we get out of this at least 8 - 5 we will be in good shape. Let me wait to get the Inside from Eskin at 11:30. That was just SUCH an abortion out there. Even after seeing the highlights again and again and again. If we even still had Marlon Byrd out there he would have made that catch. Why the hell we pulled Ledee out even was beyond me. I don't know.

EDIT: Well we are apparently no closer to any big trade than we were last week. Minnesota is the leading contender for Kris benson as they have offered the most prospects. Steve Finley is being hunted by the Dodgers but Finley may veto a trade if he can't play centerfield and Arizona may not trade within the division. As with all trade rumours everything is up in the air and anything could change at any minute before next Saturday at 4. Then again, who really fucking knows anyway?

Harry Kalas back with the Final Word from Wrigley Field today........

FUCK!

That's the word.

But according to that piece of garbage, human home run pitching machine Roberto Hernandez, Philly fans need to learn how to relax. Relax? Ok, it is OBVIOUS you have only been here for 4 months.

DICK!

It's over, congrats Braves and Marlins cause you guys play ball the way it should be played.

Now, on a completely unrelated topic. I am not a Yankee fan by any means BUT I respect and honor what that franchise has done for the game of baseball through its rich history and I cannot deny some of the great players that have played in the Bronx. Hell, even some of the current yanks (Jeter) I absolutely love but I cannot root for the team. Although it has been tempting as of late with the Phils tanking, I cannot sell my soul and just climb on the bandwagon. It would be wrong and I should be chastised if that ever happens.

So, with all that being said, does it make me a fugazee to purchase the Yankeeography DVD collection. I always enjoyed watching them when I lived in Jersey and had YES and being the nostalgic freak that I am I really want those in my collection. I have the When It Was A game series and most of those are Yankees highlights so I really don't see a problem. Is there a problem with that?

Dodgers looked good tonight though. Thank God for INHD! I can't believe that Lo Duca and Mota were traded as well. Thanks for giving the Marlins the Pennant this year. Although giving up Brad Penny may bite them in the ass. I can only hope.

Still, the Phils have made ZERO moves.

I just saw that trade after i posted. I am a bit dissapointed. Although our bullpen is in dire need of help right now, our untouchables in the minors needs to be touched and FAST! Ricky Ledee was a solid bench guy who would almost always come through in the clutch. I hate to see him go.

Cubs have slid into the top spot with the Wild Card race, one game over the Padres, who they play next week. After sweeping the Rockies (Last game going on right now, Cubs up 5-0, top of the 9th), they play the third place Wild Card team, San Fran.

Nomar's got some solid playing going on...the hitting is pretty average (his streak ended today), but his infield defense is something the Cubs desperately needed, and he's locking up that SS spot. Sammy hit his 563rd HR over the series, tying Reggie Jackson for 8th on the all-time list.

I can't believe how ridiculous the standings are in the Central divison...Cubs are second, but they're 9 and a 1/2 games back...the rest of the teams are all in the double figures! The Cardinals simply will NOT lose, goddammit...

And for no reason whatsoever, here's a wonderfully retarded picture of Nomar (which would make a wonderfully retarded sig pic, HINT-HINT)...

It was pretty cool to see how jacked up the Chicago fans were for Nomar on Sunday as I watched my Phillies go further into a tailspin. But wait, we have a 2 ganme winning streak! BAH! I am sure the Sox fans really have no love lost as far as Nomar goes but it looks like a comfortable fit in Chi-Town.

It's beautiful and it's true!

fluff's right, thus far, the trade seems like a good move, morale-wise, for both Nomar and the Cubs, as well as the Chicago fans. We're really only used to having our stars become that way over their years with the Cubs (Banks, Willians, Dawson, Sandberg, Grace, Sosa, etc.), so when we get a "built-in" star ready to go, it's pretty exciting.

Thanks for the sig, fluff!

Why are we 18 - 5 against the NL West? 3 against the Dodgers, 4 against the Rockies and 3 against the Giants then 12 with Houston (6) and the Brew Crew (12).

Could be a great time for us to get back into it and build some confidence along the way but then I see the tail off coming during September.

The Phillies are like that girl that you always wanted to date and then FINALLY she goes out with you and things are going well and then you get all kissing her and gradually covering all the bases and then you get her into bed and at the point of absolute ecstacyyou get punched in the stomach, given a fuck you and then have hot coffee thrown in your face while getting kicked in the balls. That auction is some funny stuff. He is about worth that much. And THAT'S being generous. I saw a great T-Shirt at Corn-Boy Night the other night at The Ballpark:

New Baseball Stadium: $458 Million
Phillies Team Payroll: $93 Million
General Manager/Owner: WORTHLESS

That is about all. Looks like Next Year is Our Time.

Like every year.

...and Mike, here is your question which no doubt fuels my fire:

Q: What's going on with your Phils? They gave up three homers to JT Snow....they were supposed to be a good team..who's more at fault the players Bowa or Wade..and if you were GM what would you do?

A: It's the GM. It is hard to work with that slop he puts on the field. 3 of 4 to the Rockies? Come on. Were we NOT ina fucking pennant race? We take 3 from the Padres and 2 from the D-Boys and come home and play for shit against the Rocks. The hell? It is just unacceptable. I know Thome is a power hitter but with the ridiculous shift Hurdle put on last night on him where you could have landed the Concorde in left field, would it have been so hard for Jim to choke up a little bit and just tap it to third base/left field area? Get on base and then leve it up to Abreu and Lieberthal (DEATH I SAY!!!!!!) to put a rally together. It is just unacceptable and a bit embarrassing. Getting Felix Rodriguez, ok, fine. Todd Jones? Give me a break! Roberto Hernandez?!? We should relax padre, ok. We (the fans) will just sit idly by while management stela out ticket and concession money and watch you give up run after run after run and just RELAX!* Kid's game? I am sorry pal! Do kids get paid millions to shut down the opposition? This is fucking cheese steak eating fat losing beer chugging and getting angry Phila-FUCKING-delphia BUDDY! We don't relax. You perform well, we will LOVE you! You show some HEART we will love you! You lolligag and featherass and play grabass and kissyface on the field and show any resemblance of SPIRIT on the field, you catch holy HELL pal! It really isn't that hard of a concept. Look at Chase Utley. By FAR the best player we have on this team. He is Mr. Clutch and dynamic in the field. He sacrifices the body unlike Bobby Abreu who is scared of grass and dirt. Unless he is stealing second while Thome is at the plate. Yeah, go ahead and let him get the free pass to first cheif.

If i were GM, I would clean house a little bit. Get a catcher, get a centerfielder (which is a no brainer) KEEP BOWA (he is a legend in this town) and if I were GM, I would resign under the pressure. He is just inept. A winning team will and has to be strong up the middle. Rollins and Utley no problem. Someone is going to be really lucky to Placido Polanco next year cause he is all heart. Looks like his heart has leaked into his templkes but the guy is all heart. I would also like to hold onto Marlon Byrd cause he is pretty good defensively. A bit weak at the plate but good in the field. I would love Carlos Beltran as a free agent though. I HOPE I HOPE!

That's all for now, I am getting too worked up and Conan is on and I need to smoke.

* "The word 'relaxed' doesn't exist in Philadelphia," said Roberto Hernandez, a 13-year veteran who was with the Braves last season. "Not upstairs [in the front office]. Not with the fans."

With Bowa and the coaches?

"There's a lot of us who have learned to ignore that," Hernandez said. "There's some of us who can't ignore it. Everybody just needs to relax. This is a kid's game."

If this is your guys year, you Bravos definitely deserve it. Sometimes things just click on all cylinders and things are definitely clicking. I would not hate to see the Braves do it as they do it right and they play the game right but I certainly won't be sitting there cheering them on. One more for Bobby Cox would be nice to see him the ride off into the sunset on top. That guy, over any manager in the leauge, I would give my right hand to have him managing the Phils. The Braves were expected to do jack this year and somehow he gets them to play. Play hard and win damn it. Pretty good GM and farm system too. Ok, now I am getting jealous.

Cubs smack down the Astros, 11-6, and end up back on top of the NL Wild Card race.

This still doesn't make up for the 9th inning choke LAST night, where they lose by one after taking the lead in the top of the 9th.

Lotta beaning today...Wood hit three guys, and finally got tossed after the Astros starter got tossed in the 3rd.

Sosa finally started knocking a few around, managing three hits, and Nomar's been out the series, but he'll be back as they come back to Wrigley for another series against the Brewers.

Man, only the top of the 3rd, and Cubs already beating the Brewers 7-0, thanks to a 3-run dinger off Alou in the first and a grand slam from Derrick Lee in the 2nd.

To top it off, San Fran is already down 0-7 themselves against the Marlins, so the Cubbies should be sliding back into an official lead for the Wild Card in the NL.

At this point, I pity almost any pitcher who has to handle the Cubs lineup when it's fully healthy. Sosa (.256) is the ONLY one hitting below .277 (Alou), the rest are .290 and up.

Cub's pitching a no-hitter so far tonight, and Clement's got 5 K's. THIS is what this team can do at full strength.

Cubs still hold WC lead because the Padres and Giants are losing, but Houston and Florida have won five in a row each, so both are just 3 games back. FUCK.

Cleveland is nothing to sneeze at. Granted they won 9 straight and then lost 9 straight they are a pretty good young team. CC Sabathia is going tomorrow night and no doubt the Yanks will be lusting for blood and flesh. If anything maybe the sleeping giant has been awoken.

Florida and Houston are really scary. If you saw Baseball Tonight last night, Peter Gammons commented on Josh Beckett last year and how he came alive in September and he is looking to do that again this year. Almost like he (and the rest of the team for that matter) have been just dozing through the first 3/4 of the season and will raise holy hell for the next 2 months. Seems a bit cheap to me but if they are that confident that they are saving themselves for the marriage to the playoff run, that is some sick shit. Confidence level like I have never seen.

Several years ago, I spent my honeymoon in Aruba. The first day we were there, it was raining, so we got sucked into listening to some timeshare presentation for free tickets to something or somesuch like that. Anyway, I'm wearing an Orioles jersey, and as I'm touring the facility this woman from the maid staff comes running over to me shouting "Orioles! Orioles!" It turns out she was Sidney Ponson's aunt.

Wonder if the Hurricane will help the Marlins any in their quest for a new ballpark with a retractable roof.

Also found this on MLB.com which doesn't look too fair in the marlins favour:

At this point, nothing has been determined about makeup dates for any of the three games. But there is speculation that a doubleheader will be played in one of the three games next weekend at Wrigley Field, perhaps on Friday. In that scenario, the Cubs would be the home team in both games. Also, since both teams off on Sept. 20, there is a likelihood that a doubleheader will be played at Pro Player Stadium.

The Phillies have an awesome schedule coming up.

Mets, Pirates, Expos, Reds

They are only 5.5 back in the WC.

Houston is playing way over their heads and they've got six with the Cardinals. San Francisco is going to be battling out with San Diego so they might even it up. With that the Phillies would have to take care of FLA and then hope that the Cubs fall.

Either that or the Braves could fade.

I'm not saying all of this is gonna happen but Philly is far from out of it. Even though most of us left them for dead a few weeks ago.

Game 1 of today's doubleheader is half an inning away from being over, and the Cubs bit it, 7-0.

Anyone see the Phillies outfielder flip the ball over the wall for a home run?

Which is why I am so glad they redeemed themselves and won the game.

So ok cool, right.....Jason Michaels is our utility outfielder who CAN'T hit worth a lick. Marlon Byrd pays some amazing defense and can't hit off a TEE! Carlos Beltran was out there for us to snag after coming into town WAY before the deadline and put on a clinic in centerfield and at the plate. Marlon Byrd will be our starting centerfielder next year. Cheap. Cheap. Cheap.

OK, Dusty Baker clearly had his head up his ass when he was splitting his hitters for this doubleheader tonight.

Cubs blow the first one, 7-0, but now are winning the second already in the 4th, 5-1.

Pull it together, Dusty!

Cubs come back and take the Marlins 5-2 today, putting them back on top for the WC, half a game over SF and a game over Houston.

Cubs finish up a sweep series of the Pirates BIG, 13-5. Cubbies had three home runs in the first inning, and Sammy managed a grand slam in the 8th. In fact, Cubs scored 6 runs in the 8th before they even had 1 out.

Next series is against the Reds, so hopefully they can keep this up and get a streak going. If SF loses tonight, Cubs slide back into the top spot for the Wild Card.

I saw something on ESPN that said that they did coin flips should there be any tiebreakers.....the Giants won all five of their possible flips so if they have a tie for the wildcard then anyone they play would have to play at San Francisco....it's on MLB.com.....and if the Yankees and Sox have to do a one game playoff it would be at Yankee Stadium

Cubs beat the Reds 5-4, and Aramis Ramirez has his second game in a row where he hit three home runs.

Cubbies are almost at the point they have five players hitting 30+ home runs this season.

Cubs have won 5 of the last 6 at this point, finishing up the series with the Reds taking them down, 5-1. Still half a game behind SF in the wild care push in the NL, but only the Astros are less than 4 games back, and they're at 1.5...of course, the trick is, their next series is against SF!

Oh, and the Bears beat Green Bay, 21-10. A good day.

Cubs sweep the Pirates and Maddux wins his 15th win tonight, making it 17 seasons in a row he's had at least 17 wins.

Now if Houston can just beat SF, the Cubs will slide into a WC lead as opposed to just keeping neck-and-neck.

You mean against Green Bay? Yeah, that TOTALLY came out of left field, and possibly bodes VERY well for the season. When they ended up 13-3 a couple years back, that season came out of nowhere, too, so here's hoping.

MotherFUCK. Cubs blow the third game in their series with the Mets, 2-3. Actually, I should say KERRY WOOD blew the fucking game. Dipshit walked in TWO of the Mets' three runs in the first inning.

Thankfully, the Giants lost, so the Cubs stay half a game up in the NL WC. They start a series against the Reds tomorrow, which they NEED TO SWEEP.

Pathetic.

The Cubs choke and give it up the to the Reds in 12 innings, 3-4.

At this point, the Cubs don't deserve to make the post-season. The Astros have played their asses off, and quite frankly, it would be a more entertaining playoff season if they make it. The Cubs have one more game against the Reds, then their final stretch is with the Braves, which is going to be a disaster. And even if they somehow manage to stay on top, they'll still have to face the Braves AGAIN in the post-season.

The Cubs are DONE.
