I got a letter from my insurance company today. It said they were going to raise our rates because of 3 accidents on our policy. 2 of the accidents were my sister's, who is no longer on our policy. The third was one of mine from 3 years ago. And we already have a statement from the insurance company saying that they would disregard that accident because of my parent's long spotless history with the company and because of how minor the accident was.

I call them and ask WTF? They say that since my sister still lives in our house, she still reflects on our policy and they can raise our rates, even though she has her own insurance. Is that fucking legal?!

I think you can appeal that, but then again i'm not too familar with insurace companies, all I know is NY state forces me to pay them, and I get nothing out of it

Dispute it! If you threaten to drop them, I`ll bet my life on it, that they drop the matter. As for New Jersey and cars not going well... This wonderful place we call Long Island, insurance rates here are nearly (3 Times Higher) than Jersey.

I'm on the NJ evil "state plan" which is I suppose the highest insurance you can pay. I am 25 years old, but when I was 17, I got a ticket for driving with no license and no insurance. I didn't pay those tickets until I was 21... so they are counting my insurance points from the day I paid the ticket. My insurance is insanely high.

And yes, they can raise your rates based on whomever lives in your household, even if they have thier own insurance. When you apply to insurance they ask you the names of all driving age people who live in your house. Insurance companies are evil.

I'm on the NJ evil "state plan" which is I suppose the highest insurance you can pay. Yes it is. That "plan" sucked the life out of me for 3 years. I'm sorry for you.
