The new Social Distortion album finally. I saw them back in 2001 at Irving Plaza right after 9/11. The new songs they played that night have been in my head ever since. It's about time.

MUTT LANGE is producing two albums next year. AC/DC and THE DARKNESS. I'll buy 'em both for sure.
Maybe, just maaaybe, there will be a NIN record this year. *sigh*

Unfortunately... it's only a matter of time before someone mentions Guns and Roses in this thread. Fuck Axl. That guy shouldn't even be allowed to sing in a GnR tribute band! That loser.

Same here! I check their website everyday to see if they added any news about the record. And I was at the Irving Plaza show. It was an amazing show. At least we had a few Mike Ness solo albums to hold us over since the last record.

Ben Harper is doing an album with The Blind Boys of Alabama that's coming out in September. That should be pretty cool.

They were the Opening act for Peter Gabriel's 'Growing Up' Tour; and when they stopped by the Meadowlands last Nov I got to hear those beautiful, beautiful voices.

Count me in on the Social D album. It's been WAY too long since we've heard from those guys.

Besides that, there's at least a dozen albums I'm really excited for, but odds are nobody will know who the bands/acts are, and thusly will not care.

I know there are a few other Idlewild fans on the board, so they're probably just as nuts as I am that they'll have a new album out by early fall...at least in the UK.

JC and I are probably the last Oasis fans in America.

I just threw on "Definitely Maybe" the other day, and it still holds up. It's like a best-of of everything that's been great about British rock for the last 40 years.

I don't think anyone is more skilled at musical thievery than Noel Gallagher. There's out and out stealing, and then there's workin' it, and the man definitely does the latter.

Side, shmide. I love both bands for completely different reasons. That "battle" was the wussy British version of the east coast vs. west coast rap feuds...mostly media hype that went way too far and got into the bands' heads.

The only good thing is that both bands ended up putting out some brilliant albums to try and one-up each other.

Britpop was, by far, my favorite musical "movement" of the 90's, and I think it blew away ANYTHING America had to offer. I thank Christ I was overseas in the mid 90's to experience it firsthand.

I highly reccomend the book below to anyone that enjoyed the Britpop bands, despite the doom 'n' gloom subtitle...

I think Noel Gallagher is one of the most talented men in music. And The Last Party is a great book. It goes beyond just Oasis and Blur and really gets into all the other Britt bands that broke around the early 90's.

I still have the Rock in Rio 1999 mp3s where Axl not only announces the name of the album but plays the first 3 songs. I don't think anyone from that performing band is still in it.

5. Girl From Mars - Ash
I was always partial to Kung Fu myself

17. 6 Underground - Sneaker Pimps
What ever happened to these guys (and I don't literally mean it, I know they made an album without the girl, but what happened that they kicked her out and pretty much ruined everything?)

12. Nancy Boy (Radio Edit) - Placebo
Hmm. I don't know this song, maybe I should pick up another album besides Without You i'm Nothing

14. Weak - Skunk Anansie
they showed up on the Hollow Man Soundtrack, which was pretty odd. I'm not sure if this is the song I know or not (they were played in Austrlia when I was over there in 99).

And you and JC are joined by Lurch from the Junkies (of all people) as still carrying the torch for Oasis. I, personally, was always more of a Blur fan, going back to Parklife days. I'm quite crazy for the song 'Coffee and TV,' probably would make my top 15 all time.

Sneaker Pimps actually did release a second album with the female singer, but it was never put out in the US. It was OK, but they were already headed in the more "rock" direction of the third album without her.

Ash are still going strong. I fuckin' love that band to death, and seeing them for like the 6th time in my life at the Black Cat last year was easily one of the top 3 best shows I've seen in my entire life.

Another close one (top 10, definitely) was seeing Blur at the 9:30 Club a few months ago. "The Universal" was practically a religious experience that night. Damon could have walked on air if he wanted to.

British bands always give great shows in DC, because they get a lot of UK expats showing up at the show and really amping things up. The bands always seem surprised and pleased at the response they get, and it really comes across in their shows here.

I have to admit that i've never seen Ash live. The only album I have 1977, but I wore that thing out when it was new.

I'll go see them next time they're in town for sure, even if it might be a while.

The Latest Clutch and Fear Factory have been keeping me going for awhile.

I think the new Bad Religion comes out soon, if it hasn't come out already, that's a must have for me.

I had no idea Canderia was coming out with new stuff, I might pick that up too. the local college "metal" station has been really awful for the past 2 years or so, so I'm really out of the loop.
