Ok...WTF?!
C.C. Sabathia? He's only 5-3! Esteban Loaiza? The same Esteban Loaiza who has a 4.37 era? Barry Larkin? 4 homers, 30 rbi, 2 stolen bases, and a .294 avg is good enough to get you a spot in the All Star game? I thought I lot of the people who deserved to make it, didnt...like Jose Mesa whos probably the most improved pitcher, and he hasnt blown a save yet... Bobby Abreu has been great this season, 16 homers, 52 RBI, 17 SB, and a .301 AVG... Adrian Beltre, who has finally broke out of his shell, has 21 homers, 55 RBI, and a .327 batting AVG, there is no chance in hell that that isnt deserving of a spot in the all star game...
Your thoughts? Comments? Questions?

-David Ortiz should be starting over Jason Giambi.
-Miguel Tejada, Michael Young or Carlos Guillen should be starting over Derek Jeter.
-Gary Sheffield or Matt Lawton should be starting over Ichiro Suzuki.

Jason Giambi???? Is he having an All-Star season this year??? He seems more hurt than actually playing. But I guess there's no other note worthy 1st baseman in the A.L.
it sucks that Beltran wont be able to play

But I guess there's no other note worthy 1st baseman in the A.L.
David Ortiz was left off the ballot because they considered him a DH and the game is in a NL ballpark.
He's played more games at first this season than DH and is batting .306 with 22 homers and 76 RBI. He should be starting. Stupid MLB.

Hell yeah, Hudson and Mulder
Im not sure if Hudson will be available to pitch by next week with the injury...but I dont know when theyre gonna take him off the DL.
Jason Giambi???? Is he having an All-Star season this year??? He seems more hurt than actually playing. But I guess there's no other note worthy 1st baseman in the A.L.
Ortiz, Frank Thomas, Aubrey (sp?) Huff, and Palmerio are all havin better seasons than Giambi.
it sucks that Beltran wont be able to play
He will be able to play, just on the AL team. Because he got all the votes on the AL ballot thats where he will play.

Giambi and Jeter?
"They all deserved to be there," said the Yankees' Joe Torre, who will manage the AL team.
Liar.

Liar.
Jeter is the best shortstop in baseball now that Arod plays 3rd base. Don't even mention Nomah because Thursday night ended that discussion when Jeter dove into the stands to save the game and Nomah suled in the corner in the red sox dugout.
BTW, Jeter and Giambi were voted in by the fans.

Everytime someone brings up a bullshit voting scenario, this is still my example.
Giambi shouldn't be allowed within 50 miles of ythese All Star festivities, but Jeter should absolutely be there. The guy hit nearly .400 in the month of June to bring his season back from the depths, and can someone show me an instance where he's performed poorly in the field?
He's always written off as the lesser defensive shortstop, regardless of whether he's being compared to Nomar, A-Rod, Vizquel, etc...but I've been watching the guy everyday for years now & I just don't see where he doesn't get the job done. I like to think of myself as a Yankees fan who doesn't just blindly think "Yanks are the best" and never bother to back it up with fact, and certainly I know Jeter doesn't hit as well as A-Rod or Nomar (in a regular season), or have the flash of Omar, but there's nothing he doesn't do & do well. I hate people write him off just because he's a Yankee.
Lastly, David Ortiz got hosed.

adrian beltre should be in over Mike Lowell.... and yes ortiz got the shaft... adam dunn got royally fucked (24 hr 51 rbi).. if ortiz didnt get in for being mostly a dh then piazza shouldnt have gotten in for being a catcher when he is mostly playing first..

I think Joe did a very very fair job on the team. he left off Posada matsui and Sheff Flash and Mo all deserved it. And btw Jeter is the best SS in baseball at this point BY FAR. so he deserved to start. He went from 188 to 280 in a month. and its not like he has 5 hrs. he has 13. and 41 rbis. So stop being blind Yankee haters and give the man his due.
Oh yes 1 more thing. David Ortiz got shafted.

How about a little guy in Baltimore named Miguel Tejada? Michael Young? Carlos Guillen?
Tejada - .315/15/69
Young - .331/11/49
Guillen - .324/11/57
Jeter - .278/13/41
The fans have every right to vote for their favorite player. The fans also have a right to be stupid.
My problem is with Torre saying they all deserve to be there. You can argue Jeter, but Giambi?

Non True. He blew his first save sometime last week.
And Jack Wilson--its about goddamn time!! I've been watching this guy play for several years now and I can say with absolute honesty that he should be starting. Period. End of Discussion.
And whether or not certain yankees get voted in, Torre always manages to bring everybody anyway. Although it seems that he's finally showed some restraint this year. Go figure.

giambi didnt deserve it, but if you dont like it, VOTE HIM OUT. did you all vote? even if you did, the rest of the fans in the rest of the league sure didnt. and dont bring up the whole "ny's the biggest market" bullshit as the reason giambi got more votes. if that was the case, all of ny would be starters. its over johnny, and the best 1b wont be starting.
if giambi can shit like a regular human being by then, you can bet he'll beat the shit out of the ball, and give the janquis homefield in the ws.

I voted at least 17 times, cuz every time i visited mets.com it was right there in fron of me so I felt it was my duty to vote and never did i vote for Giambi. Sure Ortiz got screwed, but unlike Adrian Beltre whos having the best season at 3rd outside of Rolen, he made it to the All Star game...
As far as Joe Mesa goes, even if he did blow a save this week, its still his first blown save of the year and you cant deny that hes improved beyond belief from the awful season he had last year.
Just because Jeter is the best SS in the legue, doesnt mean he's having the best season. ADF already pointed out that the other 3 SS on the team are all doing better than Jeter, even if he is batting .400 in June...
