View Full Version : Who's more dangerous Al Zarqawi or OBL?

After the 9/11 attacks, Osama Bin Laden was the worlds most wanted man. However in recent months Abu Masub Al Zarqawi, the Jordanian militant with ties to Al Qaeda has been spreading havoc in Iraq. He is an expert bomb maker and a couple of months ago, Jordanian Police arrested a few of his top aides in a plot that could have killed 80,000 people which would involve a dirty bomb. As we know he is suspected to be involved with the beheading of Nick Berg and a slew of car bombings and an attack on Shi Ites last year at a religious pilgrimage. I think they are equally as dangerous and we need to get rid of them both

You're an idiot.
I'm sorry - I can't even be civil to you on this.
You can feel nothing but complete and utter hate and loathing of Bush, that's your American right, but to equate him as worse than Bin Laden or Al Zarqawi is, on about 8 thousand different levels, completely ignorant and SUB-moronic.

it's kind've like the people who feel 'white collar crime' is different than people who hold up a liquor store. In the end they both are stealing...
Bush did not have good enough reason to invade Iraq, there was no threat and he knew the evidence was 'shady' at best about WMD's. It sounds like a broken record but it's true. But he for whatever reason plunged us into war. We have 140,000 soldiers in Iraq and we can't keep peace. Maybe you're right, he just made a big mistake. I would just like to see him walking the streets of Iraq with the soldiers he put there.

Let's take a cold, hard look at the daily life of the average Iraqi citizen.
Are they REALLY better off? Honestly?
And nobody's trying to defend Saddam with this, especially not me. The man is less than scum, and the sooner he's dead, the better. But I take issue with the statement that "we've" made the "average Iraqi's life much better than before."
A majority is STILL without electricty, running water (be it clean or dirty...and most if it's dirty) and ready access to medical care...three things they DID have before the war.
There are no more mass killings...but they seem to be blown to bits either by our bombs (Which is, thankfully, mostly over) or the bombs of the insurgents/terrorists who are supposedly trying to "help(?!?)" them. So at best, you can say there is less violent death on a large scale than before. Sure, the situations are different....but dead is dead...and a LOT of people are still ending up dead.
And the torture. Of course, "our" torture is nowhere near as bad as what was happening before the war. But it IS still torture, abuse and mistreatment. At best, we can say, "it's not as bad as it was under Saddam."
Is that REALLY the level of quality this whole operation was to be about over a year after primary conflict began AND ended? You have less people dying on a whole...but still large amounts violently dying on an almost daily basis. And you don't have Saddam's torture...you have torture that's not as bad. And as for water, electricty and medical care...well, that's still out the window for most of the country, too.
I don't know how much more I can lay this out. I am baffled by the go-to notion of "they're better off than they were before," because clearly they are NOT. Maybe they WILL be eventually. I hope to God they will be, and I still think "we" can make that happen...but right now? No, the average Iraqi citizen is NOT better off than they were before. Not by a long shot. And I am NOT blaming this all on our government or our troops...a lot of this, if not most, is the fault of the insurgents and terrorists disrupting the country. But those people are still fucking things up for the rest of the Iraqis just trying to survive, and making it VERY hard for them to do that very basic human function, and that's hardly "better off than they were before."
And as for the original question of this thread, I say OBL is "worse," just because his actions and words are more likely to get me and my family and friends and loved ones killed HERE in our own nation.

True, but seredipity made Zarqawi, by that I mean Bush and Osama's territorial pissings.
Bush and Bin laden are two sides of the same coin, playing the same game. Both men of incomprehensible wealth and devout in their faith. Their are those who follow each as if they 're the second coming, and those who despise them in their own country. The only difference i see is that one uses soliders to drive the other out, and the other uses terrorists to drive the first out.
But can someone tell me what the difference is between a solider and a terrorist? Aren't all terrorists soliders, just lacking in uniforms? And doesn't all soldiering cause terror? Doesn't a roadside bomb and tomahawk missle kill the same way?
Please tell me the difference between us and them, because I don't see it

Hippie, you're all on your own with that "terrorist vs. soldier" question. You're headed into some rough sailing with that one...
The differences are strikingly different, and practically infinite. It's almost ludicrous (And quite frankly, a waste of time) to not think there's a difference between a soldier and a terrorist.

Soldiers are used in time of war, to take out the enemy, whoever that me be. You are not meant to fear soldiers, it happens for other reasons. Terrorists WANT you to fear them, and to do that they attack INNOCENT civilans of one country in an attempt to change something. Terrorists kill inoocent people on purpose, soldiers kill innocent people accidentally.

The point that I'm trying to make is that the outcome is the same. No matter how noble you think your cause is, you're killing people for it. A soldier kills the same way a terrorist does, and I'm sure that terrorists consider themselves soldiers.
What then? If they consider themselves soldiers, do they consider us terrorists? Oh my god! Could the words terrorist and soldier be in the eye of the beholder?
Is it really so simple to look at other people and just say "oh, they hate our freedom" or "oh, they're terrorists" without actually looking at why they're fighting.
Look at Palestine, where about 70% of the Arab population are unemployed. So they fight. Then look at urban America, where 70% of young black males are unemployed.
But there sure seem to be a lot of recruiting centers. You wanna fight terrorism? Fight hopelessness. Fight poverty. Fight fuckin starvation!
So how are we fuckin' better than them? cause we wear pretty uniforms and kill with more precision? You don't think soldiers kicking open your door at night, or putting electrodes to your nipples causes terror?
It's gotta be the uniform! Yes, the uniform makes everything better! We gotta Queer Eye those terrorists! if we get them some snazzy uniforms, then they'll be soldiers just like ours.

Righto, se7en.
I mean, where does one begin with these people?
As far as the topic is concerned, it looks like the Pentagon has decided that Zarqawi is the bigger threat, as they pulled out Task Force 121 from Afghanistan where they were looking for bin Laden, and transferred them to Iraq to hunt down Zarqaqi.
