View Full Version : Tonight's Raw: What was the point?

The opening segment with The Rock was dynamite, but it didn't do much to set up ANYTHING. Edge spearing Orton was all right, until we saw a very unticlimatic finish in their tag match. Rock's prediction of Eugene claiming the number one contendership fell short as Eugene lost, or did he? If you paid enough attention to the final minutes, the match did not end. Triple H didn't even do what Bichoff requested, which was to beat Eugene senseless. Benoit accidently hit Eugene with a chair, and was then pedigreed. End show, wrap it up, another gold star on this edition right? WRONG!
Some other things really got to me as well. One thing was all the time they dedicated to the diva contest, which they're force feeding us as if it'll actually pay of to be something of actual worth to the WWE viewing audience. We already had a "diva search" last year folks, and the "winner", was never heard from again.
Anywho, there's also this thing with Lita and Kane. I mean, where is this angle supposed to go? Kane finally got some, so what? Should there be a storyline based on Charlie Haas and Miss Jackie weekend excapades? Answer to that question: no! Why you may ask? Because it will not develop into anything interesting or tolerable in the least. So tell me, what's the point of this Lita angle again?
And then there's that match Trish had with Victoria which was I considered to be a very well placed bathroom break. The end result of the match made no sense. The ref couldn't even act as if he didn't know Trish cheated, he just ignored the fact. Hell, he was right under her arm! Plus, there was some dude dressed in drag standing next to Victoria, who by the smile looked alot like Steven Richards. But correct me if I'm wrong as I may have changed the channel, they did not say who the dude in drag was, they just continued to babble on.
All in all, Rock segment aside, and most of the Eugene/HHH match that didn't actually end, Raw was a rush job of monumental proportions which did little to develop any of the key storylines. Ok, now we know Triple "beat" Eugene and is the number one contender, even though now winner was announced since there was no pin fall or submission. We also know that Kane is the father of Lita's child, even though the angle has been stale and unproductive. What else, oh, Trish hangs out with cross dressers. Just lovely. And they decide to stick Shelton on Heat and allow Orton to continue to tarnish the IC belt. With the way SD!'s been after Wrestle Mania, all the fed has to do is ensure another show modeling after this one next week, and I'm never watching any WWE entertainment again.

As much as I really don't care for the Rock, I did enjoy his promo. Sometimes the only purpose IS entertainment. Lighten up, Francis.
Diva search... pfft, whatever. Next.
The Lita pregnancy thing is just so stupid on so many levels. And the acting is so horrible it's hilarious. Since she told Matt that it might be his, I'm hoping for the pay-off of a paternity test conducted by Maury Povich. "Now Lita, you're a special little whore..."
Plus, there was some dude dressed in drag standing next to Victoria, who by the smile looked alot like Steven Richards. But correct me if I'm wrong as I may have changed the channel, they did not say who the dude in drag was, they just continued to babble on.
Please, babbling on is all JR & King are good for. For what it's worth, it did look like Stevie to me too, but I was only half-paying attention.

The point of RAW? Why, that dastardly HHH, he took out Eugene AND outsmarted Benoit, bah gawd.
The tag match was a clusterfuck from the point that Botchtista injured Jericho.
The Lita pregnancy angle is just SO over the top ridiculous, and it's made all the worse (or great, depending on how much you have a love-hate relationship with wrestlecrap) by the fact that they're being so goddamn serious with it. I'm no misogynist, but I reiterate some earlier remarks: Lita, you're a whore. Nice to know you fucked TWO guys without using protection. To quote a line from another poster on another messageboard, "I hope she gives birth to Jeff Hardy wearing a Kane mask."
And the ending of the Victoria / Trish match was weird. I'm 99.99% sure that was Stevie, which is....odd, but if that was Stevie, I'm assuming they're about to start an angle where he's essentially stalking her to get her back. And I'm down with pretty much any angle that gives Stevie some airtime on the "muthaship"!

I will just say now I slept through Raw....But my Mom said it was Stevie in drag. She also said he looks nicer with short hair like everytime he is on.

That's the part that had me the most confused last night...did someone miss a cue, or did I fall asleep watching it? They show a "woman" save Victoria from Tyson & Trish, and even in a quick glance & barely paying attention I assumed it was Stevie. But they cut out on the scene before officially saying it was him...with just Victoria & shim staring at one another. What the hell was the point?
I hope it was just a botched segment ending & they don't drag this story out. As much as I want to see lots of Vic and of Vic & Stevie, having him dress in drag & save her more than once will just be silly.

Randy Orton is terrible on a mic...
Yes, yes he is. I was cracking up all the way when Rocky walked through the back greeting everyone, then Randy got back on the mic and my uncontrollable laughter just stopped at the drop of a dime. And when Rocky was talking about the "my pretty pony" story, Orton had the dumbest facial expressions. It wasn't William Regal dumb where you can actually laugh, it was just sickening. I wish Vince would drop this kid faster than the XFL. One could only hope.

That's where alot of people found the excuse to hop on his crotch. Look, the guy had a hardcore match, how can you NOT have a good match when you're just being beaten half to death? There is NO skill needed to get pummeled. Christian however put on a beautiful match with Jericho at Wrestle Mania, and the Raw afterwards and got NOTHING. Ok wait, he did get the likes of Tyson "New Hoss In Town" Tomko. Yeesh...

The WWE has been incredibly smart about not exposing Orton.
Every "good" Orton match? It's when he's paired up against a better worker.
When he's against a worker at his same level, the match winds up stinking.

I've heard enough about the Randy Orton/Mick Foley hardcore match. What has he done worth noting since then? He had one good match and returned to the mediocrity he came from. I think that Randy Orton's sole asset is every wrestling fan I know genuinely wants to watch him get the piss beaten out of him....but they want it to the extent to where he's crippled for life and can't wrestle anymore. Hope springs eternal I guess. And the Lita pregnancy thing.....maybe if we ignore it it'll just go away. God help us if this is slated to be a major angle.

Although I'd much rather listen to him than JBL

I beg to differ. JBL is good on the mic, but he is a bit TOO cocky and very annoying. It's possibly because of the fact that they're force feeding this guy to us.

Really? Sounds like someone else that made a cameo on Raw this week.

I like Orton. Y'all hate on him too much.
It's cool to not like Orton like it's cool to not like HHH. Bottom line, they're both very good.
