Quite possibly the lamest thread ever, so locking it seems only fair once the info is out there.

I cant remember who is the big Cheap Trick fan here, but some board peeps were talking about going to see Aerosmith and Cheap Trick at PNC, what I call the Garden State Arts Center Tonight.

It's postponed until the 30th; says TicketBastard and the PNC Site.

Mods, lock away! Please! I want a Lockey!

Oh, it's no inside joke. I despise these bands more than any other American musical act EVER, and I rarely ever shut up about it.

Hell, I started a whole thread about how much I hate Cheap Trick.

ok heres my love/hate with aerosmith.

when they were hungry and put out Aerosmith, and Toys in The Attic; they rocked.

I was glad to see them clean up and reunite, because the first 'cleaned up' Aero I heard and saw was Janie Got a Gun, which still remains a kick ass song, and video; a real fucking rarity. Sure look at it now, it's aged, but that video and song turned quite a few heads.

And then they just sank into this schmaltzy Armegeddon Sountracking thing that I cant stand.

Heart did it. I saw them in, hmmmm, shit 1980? Anyway they blew the Philly Spectrum off its foundation. Just stomped us dead flat. Their version of Rock and Roll? Phheeww people on radio thought it was some amazing Zep live version.

Then they became MTVs darling and put out Ballad after ballad of Shit, and Tugboat Annie and Nancy lost it.

For the record, Rick Neilsen utterly Loathes Playing 'The Flame' the schmaltzy ballad that, like many schmaltz ballads, gets played on radio constantly. Ack.

And there was once, a rocking, subtly scary Cheap Trick. Auf Weidersen; Zander screaming "Suicide!!!... Suicide!!!... Suicide!!!..." into a crowd in 1978? That was some weird shit to see as a 14 year old.

PS: REM recorded a pretty kick ass cover of 'Toys in The Attic'. Love them or hate them, that song just explodes out of the gate with that chugga-chugga rhythm; oh for That Aerosmith...

Some get Tyler an 8 ball STAT

I can't stand Aeromsith from ANY era.

They started out as bad Zeppelin clones, and they just fell further and further from there.

I'll admit Tyler could sing back in the 70's...but his voice has been an instrument of torture for about 25 years now. Plus he looks like an old woman (And has for about 15 years) and yet talks like can kick some ass.

Worst of all is the goddamn music. Joe Perry has been playing the same riff for two decades, and it's so lazy and lame and everyone just eats it the fuck up. I always remembered that SNL skit that made fun of this, showing how almost all of the Aerosmith hits since the Run-DMC pairing have sounded the same..."Amazi-crazy-cryin'-jaaaaaaded!" In Jay Mohr's new book about his time at SNL, he talks about how he played Joe Perry in that skit, and went to G.E. Smith to find out how he could make his playing look a little more authentic. Smith showed him how to play the big riffs from 6 Aerosmith hits in less than an hour, and Jay ended up only having to move his hands while "playing" twice. G.E. Smith knew this. G.E.-FUCKIN'-SMITH. From HALL AND OATES.

Cheap Trick, it's a different kind of hate. I LOVE "I Want You To Want Me." It's in my top 10 of my favorite songs of all time, any genre. But everything outside of that has been such a huge letdown, and their acclaimed "diversity" is what I hate. I want a classic power pop band...not cheesy covers and faux metal and proto-punk or whatever the hell the rest was!
