Fuck Barry. He said himself he's never even been to Boston.

Boston used to be very racist, everybody knows that but times have changed and I'm sick of hearing this crap.

Sox beat the shit outta San Fran tonight by the way.

Wow, Boston is a racist city? Thank God Barry Bonds was around to tell the rest of America what is already painfully obvious. Is Boton racist? Yes. Is Barry Bonds a tool? Yes. Who cares. Get the bat, pop a few more steroids, and wack the ball out the fuckin park. Instead of Boston, how about trying to get your team a World Series ring. I'm so tired of Athleats who get on thier high horse, and want everyone to listen to what they say about political issues, but then don't want to take responability for thier own flaws. If it were up to Barry Bonds, everyone in America would love everyone else, no matter what color they are, but they would all be on so many steroids that they arms look like Hulk Hogans. Love each other, no matter what, but die 20 years before you're supposed to because steroids ate out your insides.

Maybe someone just asked him whether or not he'd want to play in Boston, and he told them why he wouldn't want to. The article gives zero context for the quote, but it's probably a safe bet someone asked him a question along those lines.

That's the funniest part about people saying that athletes and other celebrities should just shut up.

They have people in their face whenever they're in public asking them questions. What are they supposed to do? Run away?

Athletes get fined if they don't answer questions from reporters.

Not true. Barry Bonds himself hardley ever talks to reporters. The only time he talks is when a issue pops into his little pea size brain that he feels he need to adress. Usally when he does rant, it's on race. It's the only thing his dumb little one track mind can think off.

There are alot of Baseball players who don't talk to the media. In some situations, Athleats are required to talk, but not always.

Maybe someone just asked him whether or not he'd want to play in Boston, and he told them why he wouldn't want to. The article gives zero context for the quote. But it's probably a safe bet someone asked him a question along those lines.

The quentions don't matter to Bonds. He dosen't respond to all of them. I didn't hear the interveiw, and didn't hear the rest of the questions. I gaurantee someone asked him a question about steriods, and I gaurantee he reponded with "no comment."

BTW, I would take him on my team in a second.

For those of you who say bonds doesn't know anything about Boston or how they treat their players, was his father not in the big leagues? And from what I understand he wasn't too fond of Boston because of the ridiculous racism of that city at the time .Let's be real here for a second. I despise Bonds just like 99 % of people, but he isn't off base.

Not only is the city of Boston racist, if you know anything at all about the Red Sox organization you know what an incredibly racist past it's had. It isn't just Bonds, alot of African American players actually have had clauses in their contracts to keep them from going to Boston. Dave Justice had a no trade clause to Boston for that very reason and he openly admitted it. For god's sake they passed on Jackie Robinson because he was black. When he tried out at fenway they had only management in the stands and someone yelled out, "Get those niggers off the field," according to a reporter who was there that day. In 1949 they passed on Willie Mays because one of the team's scouts decided that it wasn't worth waiting through a stretch of rainy weather to scout any black player. Anyone who tries to rip into Bonds for that statement is kidding themselves, but anything else that the idiot has said is fair game in my opinion.

What? Boston racist! No!! The city that took forever to segerate schools. Southie has got to be the most understanding ethnic community in the city.

Seriously, I knew a guy who was white, but not Irish, and those mics in Southe still kicked his ass.

I grew up in Southie and some people I know from there do say racist things and I know people that don't and I dislike like the fact that people brand a whole town or city as being racist.

As far as the Red Sox being racist, that used to be true, but hasn't been in a while and the new owners would not stand for it. they don't care what color you are as long as you can play.

Boston has a long legacy of racism. It's not the in your face racism of a place like say Mississippi, or Alabama but it's just as bad.

And as far as Bonds just raising race as a subject for no apparent reason, he was actually asked by a reporter from the Boston Herald whether or not he'd play for the Red Sox as a DH. He replied with no and gave his explanation which I personally feel is a legitimate one. Perhaps the only legitimate one he has made in his life, but legitimate none the less.

Like the racism in New York during the Draft Riots of 1863, which specifically targeted blacks?

Or the racism of San Franciscans towards the Chinese?
