I dont see the Knicks getting Shaq...they dont have as much to give up as other teams, and lets face it theres no player more dominating than Shaq so teams will be lining up. So after its all said and done, the Lakers might not be so awful after all.

looking back you can kind of say Karl Malone and Gary Payton were the cause of their finals loss... they both come from teams where they were if not the 'key' player and they never could win a Championship regardless of the great teams they were on...

Shaq is frustrated, and rightfully so. He's just throwing a temper tantrum and once he talks to Lakers managment he'll be ok. Kobe opted out so the Lakers could sign him for 7 years at over 150 million (one year more than any other team could sign him from plus substansially more money) it was strictly a business decision, added onto the fact that Kobe wants to be "a Laker for life". Malone has said if he's 100 percent healthy he will no doubt be playing with the Lakers next year and Payton is now happy as hell since Jackson left. The Lakers will be fine next year, Phil Jackson leaving might even be a blessing in disguise.

Im just mostly glad Phil Jackson is gone. I still dont see the "great coach" that everyone on his bandwagon say he is. I mean come on, he practically walks right in to these championships with the teams he gets. The Bulls had Jordan and Pippen. The Lakers had Kobe and Shaq. Lets see him go to a team like say the Clippers, and see how great of a coach he is then.

hawk had it dead on about the magic getting shaq. they give up the number 1 pick and drew gooden or somebody or future picks, and the magic get back the man they drafted. and kobe and payton stay lakers.

now can i ask the real offseason question: who is going to be the coach of the knicks next year? i hope its not lenny or isiah. isiah is much better at evaluating talent than coaching. and while i respect lenny ive never regarded him as a great coach. the only man i want to coach the knicks is pat riley. i dont care what they have to do to get him back, but i would like to see the physical NYK D i saw in 94.
