I heard how the NFL players
say it would not be right to
play this Sunday because of
the tragedy. Well I got news
for them. Most people did not
have time to mourn like they
said. A lot of people had to
go to work the Next day. I
heard MO-ron Vinny Testeverde
say he was afraid his plain
would get high Jacked. I got
news for him. He rides on a
team plain. Who the Hell is
going to High jack it???
Curtis Martin????? I heard
Vinny say it would be wrong
playing in the city that was
just attacked. I got news for
him. The Giants and Jets play
in Jersey not New York.
Broadway is open! I went to
the rental store today and it
was packed. People need more
than the news. We need an
escape. the Nfl would have
helped us. How the hell do
they get a week off??? If
they care so much and I mean
the players.... Let each and
every one of them donate this
weeks paycheck for the fire
fighters and police men.
These players are just Fucken
lazy and want a week. I know
this is horrible and I am not
even sure if I would have
watched football this week but
it should be plaid. Everyone
says we should show them that
we are not beaten. Well,
thanks to Vinny Testerverde
and the rest of the NFL we are
just showing we are beaten.
This is a case of lazy
athletes talking stupidity.
High jac

The NFL is doing this for public relations. When JFK died they played their games two days later and a lot of people were angry about it.

Also this hurts the players, with no bye week before the Superbowl they will probably have to play two games in one week sometime this season.

Why aren't you calling College Football, Nascar, MLB, Hockey (training camp) and Basketball (training camp) players lazy?

Most people followed what the
NFL did so that is why I am
not calling them lazy. The
football players also made the
dumbest statements I have ever
heard. I could care less what
the training camps do.
College players are not
getting paid and I believe
they would have played if the
NFL had played. Many people
get there weekly pay checks
from the NFL like vendors and
what not. Ask the Vendors if
they are happy that these NFL
players are taking the week
off. And lastly the NFL
players are the only ones that
threatened to Boycott if they
were told to play. These
players will not play twice in
a week. If these players are
so patriotic why ar they not
donating thes

About 35 members of New York Giants visit World Trade Center

NEW YORK (AP) -- About 35 New York Giants spent more than 90 minutes Saturday shaking hands and thanking rescue workers searching for survivors in the rubble at the World Trade Center.

``It was an unbelievable effort,'' fullback Greg Comella. ``One guy told me he had been working for 20 hours straight and that he lost his brother. It was worse than anything on TV.''

The players were ferried from Jersey City to Manhattan in shifts by New York City Police boats starting around 1 p.m.

The players had brought supplies for the rescue workers to a staging area in Jersey City, when they decided to see if they could go to the financial district and lend moral support.

``The guys didn't know if it was the right thing to do,'' said Pat Hanlon, the team's vice president of communications. ``But they saw that what they did carries weight. At the end of the day, they felt like they'd done something.''

The players were allowed to go almost right up to the rubble of the twin towers, Hanlon said.

``Everybody all week long who has seen the destruction firsthand has said it's surreal,'' Hanlon said. ``It is. To anybody who has been in the financial district, it's incomprehensible what it looks a like now.''

Hanlon said rescue workers seemed to enjoy the visit from the defending NFC champions, who lost 31-20 in their season opener on Monday night in Denver.

The next morning hijackers rammed two jetliners into the World Trade Center, bringing down both towers.

Media who cover the team were not allowed to accompany the players to the site, so Hanlon recounted a lighthearted conversation wide receiver Joe Jurevicius and quarterback Kerry Collins had with a firefighter.

``You cost me money in my fantasy league,'' the firefighter said. ``You catch any one of those passes Collins threw to you Monday night, I win.''

``Not his fault,'' Collins said. ``I should have thrown it farther out there.''

``You're right!'' the firefighter said good naturedly. ``You should have!''

What was inescapable for the Giants was the enormity of the task being performed.

``It's an immense logistical nightmare,'' guard Glenn Parker said. ``It's amazing how well they are handling it.''

Hanlon said the team was impressed by the efforts of the workers at the site.

``We met a lot of heroes today, true heroes,'' Hanlon said. Yahoo! News

Yes it is nice what the
players did...... But still
let them put there money where
there mouth is. I think it
would have been a good sign if
they played football. They
could have met the
firefighters and what not on
Monday on there off day.
Believe me they will be
working for a long time.
Baseball will resume on
Monday. Still don;t
understand how Monday it is ok
to play but Sunday it is too

I personnaly am glad to see the NFL cancel games till Monday.

Your comparing football to entertainment like broadway and movies, but the fact is Football is more than just entertainment... if you want to watch sports entertainment, watch the Wrestling. (And even the WWF didn't go on to "business as usual", they postponed all storylines for a special tribute... which the NFL can't do, cause your not going to have an exhibition game during the season)

Football, especially PROFESSIONAL football is competition. For these athletes to be succesful, in the sense of winning and playing a great game for the fans, they need there heads to be in the game 100% I am sure this would not have been the case if they were to play, considering that a fair percentage of the players, coaches and the general administration of the NFL were directly affected by this event.

You compared there job to everyone else who had to go to work Wednesday... did you have 70,000 fans watching you at work? Does your job expect you to be completely physically and emotionally drained at the end of the day?

The NFL made a good decision, and I hope the players play well on Monday.

Well the firemen and
construction workers had to be
physical all day. The thing
that bothered me the most is
some of the stupid statements
that the players said. Like
Testerverde saying he was
afraid the team plain would be
hijacked. If these players
are so Loyal let them donate
this weeks checks. I still
feel there should have been
games. I doubt New Yorkers
would see these games because
we are still getting news
coverage so don;t say it is
because I want to watch
foot

Of coarse the Fireman and Policeman had a physically and emotional draining day...

there is no comparison whatsoever between them and football players.

And don't take a few players stupid comments as the standard feeling of the NFL.

the NFL upper management made the right decision... and it wasn't based on Vinne Testarverde's fears of the team jet being hijacked.
