Anyway I've been hearing about Big Moose titty Bill Parcells comments about his coaches and their "jap plays". You know, surprise things (or whatever he said). Ok now any pc person in the country that doesnt want to sound racist is going to take the said of those comments being wrongand racist. Am I the only one that finds nothing wrong with calling a surprise football play a jap play? And if youre japanesse, where do you even get off being upset over this? Japan bombed us. It was a sneak attack. Now we are racist for mentioning it years later? The one thing I can understand is the term "jap" being used, and i guess if youre searching for something that in itself can be considered racist.

I dunno, but on Imus they put his comments in a little bit with all the other racist comments sports people have made over the years.....M.Shott "hitler just went a little too far", H.cosell "look at that monkey run" and the Jimmy the Greeks comments about blacks being better athletes cause theyve been bred to be stronger during slavery. Thats another non-racist comment and he got fired because of it, never to work again. That was a fucking shame. Even if his statements are proven to be wrong, which they arent, that still wouldnt make the comments racist. All he did was state why he believed blacks were dominating football and other sports.

Now also in some arcticle maybe in ESPN the mag you have Larry Bird saying that there not enough white stars in the NBA and they need some to expand the fan base, and that he enjoyed beating a black guy on the floor more then a white guy because he (white) was beating a black man in a sport he dominates. This is racist?

Depends on how you look at the situation and in the context in which its being spoken. With the nba, yes the dominate players are black and it is more interesting to see how a person of a different ethinic background whether Chinese,spanish, or white can try to be the best in the sport.

There are a few theories about this. It fits well with people who live in the inner city because:
1. It's a cheap game to play.
2. You can play by yourself.
3. Not much room or maitenence is needed for basketball courts.

I have a slight problem with this statement (made in jest or not). Ever since PC came into vogue years ago, unofficial censorship has come along with it. If a criticism is made of white people, that's ok....if it's about minorities, it's almost always racist based. Jap play is not racist - The head writer for a japanese football magazine was in the room and he didnt consider it racist, the fact that with the internet and instant media a soundbite is taken and immortalized and played out of content. Growing up in the 80's watching wrestlilng how often did you hear the term "Pearl Harbored" when a guy was attacked from behind, why? The PC Police dont want people to feel bad.

Next: The argument why blacks are better players is because cheap to play, you can do it by yourself and doesnt take alot of room to play, dont these criteria fit white people as well. The reason blacks now dominate basketball is because of ESPN and the Top Ten plays that show nothing but dunks. The skills in basketball are so degraded that kids do nothing but want to dunk or imitate what they see on streetball, nevermind the fact that streetball is a tottally illegal way to play basketball because travelling and such dont get called anymore. Is Tim Duncan really that good, or is it the fact that no one else can shoot a mid range off glass jumper that he is looked at this way.

And i agree with the fact if a minority makes fun of a white guy its a joke, if a white guy makes fun of a minority hes racist. If there was a white comic who made fun of blacks like chris rock does to whites he would never get an HBO Special because he is racist. Rush Limbaugh got fired for a very valid opinion on ESPN about Donovan McNabb yet on the FOX pregame show that day Pam Oliver interviewed the D Line of the Panthers (3 black guys, 1 white guy) and Pam Oliver concentrated on the white guy as being the typical slow white guy who couldnt keep up with teh black guys and the fact that he liked rock music etc. etc. but her interview was ok, or Stephen A. Smith on ESPN NBA Shootaround said that white owners set up black coaches to fail in the NBA, the one pro sport with an excellent record in minorty hirings

but thats just my opinion

I had no idea what they meant by Jap plays until this came out. Sure, I've heard the term many times, I just never thought about it in relation to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Sometimes I think the whole world has gone crazy with the PC bullshit. Eventually people won't be able to discuss the attack on Pearl Harbor because that might offend the Japanese. It's not like the attack was made up or untrue.

They could, but when you go to an area that is predominantly black, such as inner cities and ghettos, how many baseball or football or lacrosse fields do you see? Not many hockey rinks either. But there are plenty of basketball courts. So the lack of oppurtunity to play other sports is also a factor.

"Pearl Harbored" refers to a specific act in history to describe a deceitful action.
"Jap Plays" refers to the race of people guilty of that specific act to describe deceitful actions.

It's a fine line, but "Jap Plays" is definitely racist while "Pearl Harbored" isn't.

The main muscle that helps you jump, and run fast tends to be naturally stonger on blacks. Just like how Eastern Europeans tend to naturally have more upper body strength than any other group. Just look at all of the Slavic last names on an NFL offensive line, or the weight lifters in the Olympics.

Give me an example of these hilarious, yet totally inoffensive "jokes about blacks" whites aren't able to do. Oh, that's right...there aren't any.
