I think its cool that now comedians that have been doing this for years, and have even done stand up for comedy central like Pablo Francisco and Jim Norton are getting into this now instead of just a bunch of kids who havent done anything but open mic nights.

I thought about that too...I guess probably because Tampa comics suck and no one could possibly compete...NY is the home of comedy and the competition is VERY stiff....I mean you got Patrice O Neil and Robson and a whole crew of funny guys who know each other but still want that shot at stardom...could've been ugly...

Yeah but they selected like 12 people from NY, Norton is funnier than just about any of them. Actually I was pretty disappointed with the comedians that were from NY, none of them really stood out as being that funny except for 2 or 3. If they hadnt auditioned in NY but instead in a place where they selected on 2 or 3 people they wouldnt have made it.

I agree 100% with all those.

I was kinda surprised that Pablo Francisco didnt make it. Durst's rainman joke was pretty good, I wasnt very high on him but Id rather see him in the house than most of the other people. They cut to Jay Mohr right away, who laughed, but..maybe because it was Nostalgic for him ? I know comics use / steal jokes all the time, but c'mon..

I also thought there also were a lot of 'sympathy' votes. Justin McKenny absolutely should have made it in, but it looks like if some have done TV before ( Leno, Conan, Comedy Central, etc. ) the judges may think they may have a career/exposure from the semifinals, alone.

Great exposure for almost all of them - even great exposure for that stripper.....

Was it just me, or was the entire second set HACKS?!?! It was completely unfair, that ONLY 10 from the first set made it on, and 10 at all made it from the second. Tony Woods and Will Durst were MUCH funnier than anyone in the second set.

Other observations:

I would have liked to see the Russian kid make it. The line about slapping his mother was great. If he keeps it up, he should be pretty good.

I would have liked the stripper to make it just for the potential of her and Norton living together.

I forgot his name since other than one hilarious joke he pretty much sucked. But "I like my women like I like my scotch: 12 years old and mixed up with Coke" is fucking great.

that was horrible. it was the only really cringe performance there was. apparently it works better in front of a gay audience, because they are more intellectual. at least that's how she explained it.

the other one I think is horrible is the girl who comes out with a really whiney voice then says, imagine i really talked like that and goes on to make some kind of strange noise while making a stupid face. then she makes fun of herself for being fat and goes back to the strange noise/face thing. what the fuck is that all about? and she moved on...horrible.

What a bunch of hacks. There was only 3 or 4 good comics on that show. Once Norton is elimanted, the show will suck. I love the fact he hates the other comedians on the show. That would make for good TV, Norton in a house with 9 people he hates. Unfortunalty, he will not make it into the house, because NBC sucks and can't handle a real comedian.

Ding, we have a winner. Former Sports Guy, Eddie Ifft. He was added to the original Sports Guys lineup sometime in 2000. The original show was Scott Kaplin, and Sid Rosenburg. Eddie was added to bring humor to the show. He failed, and was already gone by early 2001. He did outlast Scott Kaplin though, who quit late in 2000. God, I need a life.

As far as Last Comic Standing, the show has already been taped, so as far as Norton if you don't know already, and don't want to know, stop reading now.



Norton did not make it to the house. The Spy Report going around is his contract with MTV prohibited him from being picked. If it wasn't for that fact, he probably would have been picked, and should have been.

I'm a big fan. What I thought was odd was that so many people who have been on Tough Crowd were in the auditions, with a few of them making it to the Las Vegas round. Most of those comics, Todd Glass, Kathleen Madigan, Norton, Jay London, I know or have worked with ands are all touring national headliners. These are no slackers.

I think Jeff nailed it on the head about Norton and it sucks if that MTV thing is true as I also heard it.

I know people who auditioned in NY, made it to the finals that night, are funny and some downright gorgeous, (Ron Knows who I'm talkiing about, great Geek food) and a hell of a place to party in the basement.

The thing seems fixed, to a point I love the disclaimer that appears at the end for 1 nano second.

the producers may know some of the talent....the producers helped in the selection process etc.

Most of the headlinrs didnt wait in line for hours in the cold....c'mon, this time they got some of the funniest people out there...real pros. This will be no amateur hour for the most part.

I put my $ on Kathleen Madigan, she is hysterical, a sweetheart and has a ton of material. i worked with her for a week in N Carolna and she is unbelievable.
Don't count out Jay London or get scared of his apppearance, he is sincerely a quiet funny and strange man in real life as well as on stage. If he doesnt scare all the people in the house, he also has a good chance

so, Staples says, put the house on Madigan, and thats no insider info,especially if Norton is out of the picture unfortuantely

Monty was good, Kory (the brother who is extra ghetto.) was very funny, despite what some of the racists on this thread think. Kerry Louise (mommy of the twins) suuuuuucked, the Iranian Jew, Dan, was OK, but it was the same matirial I herad twice last week. Tim Young was... ...forgeable, nothing funny out of his mouth. Same with Gary... u.. whatever his name was. Bonnie (girl who said cunt) funny, and took a huge risk with saying cunt on NBC. Kathleen Matigan, a total ringer, been doing comedy forever, and she's funny, well, for a women anyway.

The only reason Ant made it is because it's a great story, rejected last year, and gets in the house this year. This guy is going to win it all, despite doing some real trite, hack jokes. He did a joke in last years contest that was in the movie Boiler Room, and a hack joke about Boxing that every comic at an open mike night has done. The joke last week, about 4 queens beating a straight, HORRIBLE. It's all a setup, America loves gay guys these days (queer eye, what the fuck!) He is this years Dat Fan, It's horrible.

Part 2 is on TONIGHT, not next week. Looking foward to Nortons set, even though Everyone knows he dosen't get picked.

I cant believe how amateur the 5 wildcards are/were.

Todd Glass has ZERO talent! He did the same EXACT pattern for every joke:
1) give a situation, then let the audience know that your just setting up the joke.

2) make a quick semi-humorous quip.

3) pretend to type your own critique on the internet using the "nerdy whiteboy" voice.

4) repeat steps 1-3 for the next two mins.


Jay London followed, basically, the same pattern.

He'd make his little joke. Begin to repeat the joke "for those who didnt get it". Make a self-effacing comment and say "Thank You'.

Yawn.

Dont worry, there is no way that Tammy Pescatelli will even PLACE...much less win. She's too gimmicky. She just keeps riffing on the same shit.
Very few comedians can do that. I think Rodney Dangerfield is the only one that did it successfully.


It's the reason why Jay London wont win it. People have only seen him do stand-up 7 or 8 times and they're already getting sick of the shtick. People have seen the greats (Seinfeld, Cosby, Carlin, Rock, etc...) dozens and dozens of times and they STILL dig on it. That's how they got where they are. Jay London has no re-watch appeal.

I think Gary is the most polished AND his material can appeal to both sexes. He really SHOULD win it.

Heffron has great energy. Likeable guy and solid material.

Alonzo is a great comic, just not broad enough to sweep it.

Kathleen is also very polished. Dont be suprised if she wins.

It's a shame Jim wasn't allowed to complete. He would have made it really interesting. Probably wouldn't have won, thinking of the country's comedic taste, but it would have been interesting.

It will be good to see Vos back for season 3. I think that NBC realized that the best ratings they got for LCS were the episodes that had the comics in the house. Half of season 2 was done entirely at the comedy clubs with stand up...not what people want to see for 60 minutes of the show.

I saw Gulman open for Dane Cook (who I think would run away with the LCS contest and he should be on season 3) last winter up in Boston and he was hysterical. I was pulling for him to win the whole time but his performances towards the end were lackluster. It was nice to see him get far though.

From what I've read, the BIGGEST problem people have with the show is that there simply wasnt enough stand-up comedy. I mean, Kathleen made to the very final episodes and she hadn't performed ONCE. We hadn't seen her tell a joke in 4 (or more) weeks, yet she was a finalist??!

American Idol is the biggest ratings bonanza of them all and look at the format. You sing, you sit down, and you shut up. Next contestant please. I would like to see LCS follow a similar pattern where each contestant has to perform every week. Enough with the little challenges and alliances. No one cares...except for Ant, and nobody liked him anyway.
