Late Saturday afternoon, Jennifer Lopez, 34, stunned the showbiz world by marrying singer Marc Anthony, 35, in a casual ceremony at her Beverly Hills home, witnesses and friends told PEOPLE.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing Lopez in a wedding gown. A tent was erected earlier in the day, the property was bedecked with balloons and musicians could be heard playing Vivaldi's " Four Seasons," a wedding favorite, during the afternoon.

The marriage, Lopez's third, comes just months after her whirlwind 18-month relationship with Ben Affleck, which included a postponed September 2003 wedding, a box-office disaster and a break-up and a make-up, finally went belly up in January. She had yet to even publicly acknowledge a romance with Anthony, an old flame whose own marriage to Dayanara Torres did not end until they were granted a divorce in the Dominican Republic last Monday.

People you got to put this in the context of Hollywood...Hollywood marraiges are more for press than anything else...that's why they don't last as long...somewhere along the lines the publicist of both parties probably suggested they get hitched to boost their media coverage....the longer a star can stay on the first page of an entertainment gossip magazine the better it is for her career...it literally translates into money for them...its like the old adage goes, "the minute they stop talking about ya is the minute they stop given a damn about ya"...

I imagine this is Jennifer's fight to bounce back from Gigli and Ben...maybe a way for her to get back with her Latino fanbase as well....latinos fucking LOVE Marc Anthony...I don't know why...he's not the best looking singer out there...gangly looking guy...
