Anyone like this new group?

I know on a previous thread that everyone was trashing modest mouse which i really enjoy so i was wondering if you'd give the same review to franz.
If all you've heard is the singles then don't bother responding to these b/c a bands best stuff is never the single.

I bought the album and was really disappointed, especially given the hype surrounding them. And I thought the single was the best part of the album.

I'm so out of it I thought this thread was about the Archduke whose assassination started WWI.

Seriously.

I'm with you on that TJ.

I'm about as lost in this thread as I am on the Kanye West one.

The only new album that I've been considering getting is the latest one from The Gypsy Kings.

Seriously
I heard a 2 minute interview with the band the other day explaining why they chose that name, the WWI reference, etc., but didn't hear their music.

Then When I was in the car at lunch yesterday I heard a song that I was positive was another awful song from the 80s or 90s that KRock was replaying as part of their "Resurrection Lunch." But when the DJ cut back in after the song, he said it was Franz Ferdinand. :8o: Based on how bad the single is, I won't be listerning to the rest.

Don't ANYONE tell TJ about Joy Division. He'll just feel even worse. Though he may enjoy Sorry For Dresden.

I like the album. Like every British band these days, insanely overhyped, but it's good "angular" rock you can dance your ass off to. And I can't stand the single compared to the rest of the album...so to each their own.

I did too. I was about to go into my usual rant about how Gavrilo Princip shouldve been made the most infulential man of the century instead of Einstein...

BTW, i also watched something the other day on the Black Hand Gang, and they may have been the most INCOMPETENT band of terrorists EVER...I mean, the only way Princip was able to shoot Ferdinand was that Ferdinand's chauffer made a wrong turn onto a side street where Princip was eating a sammich...

Didn't the other plotters try to take cyanide pills after they tossed the bomb at the Archduke, but it was too weak a dose to kill them?

Genius.

I just was reading a book about assassinations that talked about someone in France a couple hundred years back trying to kill a government official by rigging 25 rifles to all go off at once...it sounded like a Wile E. Coyote 'toon come to life...

JC's a man after my own heart.

Good call on ALL of those bands...thrown in TV On The Radio and Secret Machines, too.

Yep...The Cyanide was too old...it didn't work

They were all lined up on his parade route, the first guy threw a bomb but forgot it had a ten second delay and it really F'ed up the car behind the Archduke's(that was the wounded he was going out to see later). He took his cyanide and jumped in the river but it didn't work and the police fished him out of the river...The rest of them were too stunned by the explosion to do anything and a couple of them ran away...

What's wrong with Modest Mouse?

Granted, "Float On" is the only song by the band that I've ever heard, but I enjoy it.

Cash, glad you really got into Elbow! That last album of theirs was definitely one of the top 10 of 2003...
