Date: Saturday June 5th
Time: All god damn day.
Place: Belmont Park

Let me start by saying that I went last year for the first time and despite the fact that it was pissing down we had a great time.

This year you'll have a great chance to be there to witness history. Smarty Jones, IMO, will become the first horse since Affirmed, before most of us were alive, to capture all 3 legs of the Triple Crown.

Aside from that, this is a big-ass f'ing party. They have no problem with you supplying your own beverages so you can get wasted and have a good time as well. Don't worry about too many people being there! This place is huge. Take the train in and you'll be fine. The place to be is behind the building. And, while you won't see a single race live they do provide huge screen movie theatre like Televisions so its almost the same. Its an all day event and if you plan to go PM me and we'll meet up at some point in the day and say "Hi." And if we happen to get a warm day, well, theres an 80% chance you'll see some boobage.

This is the shit....GOOOOOO!!!!!!

Also, myself and 3 friends will be hanging out Friday night in the city. We are staying at an apartment on 96th street on the East side. So, if you know any cool places to get drunk on a friday or saturday night up there please let me know. I am from Jersey and rarely hang out in the city so I don't know a lot of places.

The Belmont is more like trying to figure out who will finish 2nd and/or 3rd.

It looks like it is going to rain (again) so by 6:30 who knows what the track will be like. As we saw in the derby, front-runners did well. Smarty Jones will win hopefully, who follows is what needs to be determined. The other early speed horses are Eddington(big time), Purge, and then back to Rock Hard Ten and Master David.

Master David is going to be where the value is if he gets in the race.

If you wanted to put 20 bucks in the race this is how I would play

I would use a $4 exacta Smarty (for 1st) with Master David (for 2nd)
cost: $4

Then follow that with $1 Trifecta: Smarty (for 1st) with Purge, Birdstone, Rock Hard 10, and Eddington (for 2nd) with Master David (for 3rd)
cost: $4

$2 Trifecta Smarty (1st) with Purge (2nd) with RH10, Eddington
cost: $4

$2 exacta Smarty (1st) with RH10, Eddington
cost: $4

$1 Trifecta Smarty (1st) with Purge, Eddington (2nd) with Purge, Eddington, Birdstone
cost: $4

Total: $20

Thats just for the Belmont. There are a ton of races that day (10 before the Belmont) with a lot of horses I like. If anyone cares, here's a list of horses I like to win during the day and longshots:

1st race- Lifestyle(#10) 8/5 odds Should win

3rd race- Country Judge (#12) 10 to 1 Longshot has a chance

5th race- Saintly Action (#5) 5 to 1 had a great workout

7th race- Cat Genius(#4) 5 to 1 has the most class and his speed ratings actually compare to Smarty Jones

10th race- Millenium Dragon (#6) 10 to 1 2nd highest in class, tops in Early Pace Figures, 2nd highest in Overall Speed....should contend

That's all....I'll let you know how it turns out....but, either way it will be fun.

I even bought a canopy for the rain.

I can't believe no one from the NY area aside from monsterone has any interest in going.

I'd be interested, but I have other things to do during the day. I'll have to watch the race on tv.

I'm with ya Sticky! Well, at least I was, until I saw the weather forecast. I went 2 years ago and saw Sarava beat War Emblem- it was a beautiful day, I drank very heavily and had a great time. I went last year, and it kind of sucked in the rain. I'm pretty pissed, I've been looking forward to this for a while, especially after I couldn't make the Preakness.

I will however be going to the Irish Circle in Rockaway Beach, which is not only a Restaurant/Bar, but also an OTB wagering location. Its packed to the gills for the 3 major races and is a great time.

I'll be printing up you're post on wagering on it. Can't be any worse than what I would come up with! Thanks! :)

I haven't been to the track since the early 90's when I went to Gulfstream in Miami and sat in an owner's box to watch Holy Bull (the big horse at the time) race. During the race, Holy Bull broke down and never ran again.

Birdstone.
36-1.
I'm starting to think the Belmont Stakes may be the hardest event in sports to predict.

Just to recap....This was one of the best times i've had since the last time I went. Caught the first train out of Penn Station...got a nice spot on the outside lawn...drank and gambled all day and did both of those quite well.

For the whole weekend, including eating, drinking, gambling, trains, cabs, and whatnot, all four of us went home to Jersey with more than we came with. What a great time.

Although I didn't hit the big race, the rest of my picks were pretty money:

- 1st race I was off...Lifestyle finished 4th
- 3rd race (County Judge) won at almost 5 to 1 odds....that got me started nicely for the day.
- 5th race (Saintly Action) finished 3rd
- 7th race (Cat Genius) finished 2nd at 8 to 1 odds...caught the exacta with the favorite for 10 bucks....netting ca. 150 for the race.
-10th race (millenium Dragon) finished 2nd at 12 to 1 odds.

Really not bad. Just call me Sticky 'The Greek'
