Pretty cool (http://www.csupomona.edu/~jelerma/springfield/index.html)

Someone had a LOT of time on their hands, the amount of detail is amazing.

I don't know. They tend to mess with the locations of stuff every once in a while. Like the stonecutters episode, when Homer's commuting to work--basically in his own backyard when he's done. And the episode where Homer loses his liscense, he walks to Moe's which is like 4 houses away. While in many other episodes he gets in accidents while coming home from Moe's drunk. But I may be one of a few that thinks about those kinds of things.

But it's a cool map, I love looking at something obscure on the map and remembering the episode from which it came.

Can't find Springfield Gorge

EDIT: Found it. Just north of The Carter-Nixon Tunnel, on the west end of the map.

Now I'm looking for the tire fire.

No you're not! Not by a long shot!

Moe's bar being a few houses down in that episode still bugs the shit out of me!!!!

The map of springfield changes as much as the inside of the Simpson house.

Also, in the Stonecutters episode, Homer has to park alllllllllllll the way at the back of the nuclear plant's parking lot, right next to the fence...which was apparently next to the Simpsons' back yard.

The Quick-E-Mart(sp?) seems to jump around, too...sometimes it's down the street from the Simpsons' house, sometimes a few blocks over, other times it seems waaaaaaay downtown...

The explanation for all of the inconsistencies may be found in this episode. When they are moving the town, someone mentions that they've had to do this several times. Maybe, after each move, they can't put the town back together exactly the same each time.

I'm not letting them off the hook that easily.

And don't get me started on the actual location of Srpingfield. They're really just fucking with us on that one:

Marge: 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield O-hia Maude

Film producer: Get me two tickets to the state the Springfield is in.

Skinner: This elementary school was once deemed the worst in the state of Missouri. (pause) That why it was brought here.

Larry Burns: Hey Casey Jones, where is this train going?
Conductor: Springfield
Larry Burn: Yeah, right. What state?
Conductor: (obscured by train whistle)

Of course they did state in the 'Behind the Laughter' episode that Springfield was in Kentucky, but everything in that episode was incongruous with the rest of the series.

With the amount of states they've already said its NOT in, along with distances mentioned from other places, I bet some really dedicated (and bored as fuck) fan of the show can really narrow down the state.

no it was "Springfield, Oh Hi Moe" sounding like Ohio

On a somewhat unrelated note, creator Matt Groening grew up on Evergreen Terrace in Portland, Oregon and Springfield bears a strong resemblance to our hometown, right down to the nuclear power plant on the river. Furthermore, most of the characters are named after local streets (i.e. Lovejoy, Terwilliger, Quimby, Kearney, Van Houten) In fact, me and my chick just bought a house three blocks from Flanders Street. Rumors to the contrary, there is no such thing as Disco Stu Boulevard.

No, it was definately "Oh Hi-ya Maude". Marge was trying to order the lost piece of the Vincent Price egg kit.

I believe someone has freeze-framed the dimoxinil episode where homer is filling out the insurance form and his social security number is one for someone from Oregon.

Also Krusty is based on a clown from Oregon named Rusty Nails, which is something they'v mentioned in the commentary in possibly all 3 seasons DVDs (the commentary gets extremely redundant after the first season)

When you find Comic Book Store guy Ave, you please let me know.

Most auto accidents happen within 4 houses from your own home (or something like that)
