National Spelling Bee Finals on ESPN

I think its on ESPN right now; surely to the delight of *real* sports fans everywhere.

I dont know why I like this; its mostly very boring, but watching some of the kids squirm, plus the reactions when they make it, or even better, lose it, is great.

In the last hour one kid keeled over, and a girl who missed a word, mouthed a wonderfully lip-readable but silent 'Shit!' after blowing a word.

And can they make the yellow tags the kids wear a little frigging Bigger? They cover the kid like a sandwich board. I expect 'Eat at Joes' when they turn around.

I don't know, it sounds kind of suspicious to me. Perhaps the earpiece went dead for a second and his prompter couldn't get the correct spelling to him in time.

I am such a cynic when it comes to spelling bees...they're all rigged!!!
