Bush should have fired him a while ago.

He should have replaced him with his Dad! He's got the prior job experience! ;)

Tenet is a good guy but he had to go. At least this way he did it on his own terms.

If Bush gets reelected I'm guessing he'll name outgoing Rep. Porter Goss: the current House Intel Committee Chairman and a former CIA officer.

He should have replaced him with his Dad! He's got the prior job experience!

It worked for Rumsfeld!

Why would a senior senator take that job? That would be like Babe Ruth moving to Chicago after the 1919 "Black Sox" scandal. They'll find a governor somewhere or some senator who got voted out of office in the last few years. That seems to be their unemployment program anyway - hiring out of work conservative senators.

Honestly, Bush Sr. would make a good DCI... again.

I had heard rumblings of this earlier in the week...and I'm still torn on it. I blame most of the situations our military (And country) are stuck in on the Agency, going well back into the Clinton years...and yet, Tent was actually fantastic for the Agency himself. I don't think there's been a Director that beloved by the Agency employees for decades...and he really did take great steps to re-structure the Agency for the future and get some new blood pumped in.

Ah well, it was all inevitable at this point.

And man, Bush Sr. would be GREAT. But Rudy would be a NIGHTMARE.

His last day is 11 July.

I've heard from some well-placed sources that some of Tenet's underlings will be bowing out as well.
