Here is an argument that me and my girlfriend have. She was born in October 1980 and I was born in May 1981. Not to far apart. The argument is which decade more shaped our lives. I argue that it is the 90's because that is when we were old enough to make our own choices. The music we picked and the clothes we wanted to wear. Up until then, it was pretty much all our parents doing. I argue that while I do remember TV shows from the 80's, like cartoons and toys, the stuffed that really affected me was from the 1990's. Any one agree with me on this one?

Definitely too early, the impact of the late 90's is still reverberating. Not that there was much in the late 90's beside the Y2K scare and Y2K bullshit everywhere.

It should be slightly nostalgic up until about 1995. After that, it's too soon.

VH1 has just announced plans to unveil a new program called "I Love Last Month"

The sad thing is, and this is no fault of our own dear Chickenhawk, this joke would be SO much funnier if VH1 didn't actually already trump themselves with "Best Week Ever," where they remember fondly...last week.

My take on the 90s, from some recent research. I think it was the decade where, because of Dedicated 24 Hr news channels, and even Specific Crime Channels a la CourtTV; one could view the 90s from the perspective of one big cluster fuck of the worst cases imaginable.

But they really arent the worst. Back in the Day we had some horrific stuff, but we didnt have the SuperSaturated coverage now. The coverage also showed that the killers weren't all like Charles Manson; they were sometimes the lady next door who strapped her kids in her car and rolled said car into lake and then used that Exact TV Medium to try worm out. And that, for many, is scary, that the Monsters are us.

I dont think Evil comes from some Other place or some God-thing. We make it; it's in our Nature. As is Being Good and helping others and following the Golden Rule. Hence, who the fuck really knows?

I sure don't.

Thanx for the correction, Mojo. I wasn't sure. I was reading a Law Textbook [flea market = $1 = nice] and it really struck me how the 90s really had the crimes, in terms of oddity and sheer coverage.

I think the 1970s was a real bad decade, stats wise, for murders and crime, but I can't remember. Of course this all assumes things break down nicely into decades, and even years, but I think I see patterns sometimes where they dont exist. Gestalt and all that...
