Steels: An Experiment

It's clear to us that Steels is an inflammatory issue with some of you that you're just not willing to let go. I'm getting tired of watching some of you disrespect the board and the mods for doing thier jobs. Look, I fully concede Steels provides an invaluable service to Ron & Fez fans. We didn't ban him for that. We banned him because he consistently fought with people and disrespected the mods. Regardless of who he picked fights with, someone has to be the better man and just stop...or they get banned. That's the way it's always been on this board, and it will continue to do so. We don't tolerate it. It looks bad and its not what Ron & Fez are about.

So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to go against my better judgement and the judgement of my mods and lift Steels banning as a symbolic gesture that we (the mods) are reasonable people trying to please everyone and at the same time maintain some semblance of order. It's up to him to either burn himself by starting his usual crap all over again or do his best to get along and post like a normal person. Let me say this though...this is his last chance. If he fucks up again, its on HIM...not us...and whomever has a problem with it will not have an opportunity to debate it...you can just join him in exile for all we care.

We will be watching, and the first evidence of a bannable offense will be flagged for all to see so you can see for yourself that this was his fault and not some personal agenda of ours. It won't be moved into Staff Room...it will be left there...and you can read it for yourself.

I for one think that's a compromise that no one should have any problem with.

It's up to you now Steels. Prove me wrong by being a swell guy.

yes and no.

obviously they need to resolve their differences. whether that be through pms, ims, email, snail mail, or simply meeting in a parking lot to have it out. they both have issues with one another and need to come to an understandinng that they cohabitate a place.

this thread is equally as inflammitory as any of steels b/c sooner than later the mods will have to step in and defend board policy. and that's what happens in a steels thread: his issues with jeff trickles down into a us vs the mods fight.

Situations like this are pretty much unavoidable. Some people take things very personally where others can shrug it off. Just happen to have a couple of strong-willed people on different sides of the fence and different sides of the board.

It seems in order to settle any conflict there has to be some 'bend' and forgiveness from each side. Jeff seems to be 'bending' a bit although i agree with Snoogs, the wording could've been more 'friendly' for lack of a better word. But now it's up to Steels. I don't converse much with Jeff on the board but have with Steels a small bit. Yeah, i busted his balls a little and he gave me a bunch of shit. I didn't take it personal back then and it actually makes me laugh when i think back on it. And i almost got him to go to the Hard Rock broadcast...

Life's a bit too short so hopefully Steels will come back and be part of the Board Family again!

I don't think I disrespected anyone. I don't think I incited anyone. The wording might reflect my misgivings about this whole thing, but they certainly were not inflammatory.

I'm not concerned with my relationship with the guy. As far as I'm concerned, I never had one, and really have no desire to ever have one. I just don't want the board torn apart over this, so I'm taking it off the mods shoulders and putting it on his. People say we censor, say we "over ban"...well here's us saying..."no...we don't."

We pretty much let you guys say anything that doesn't constitute a direct attack against another member. And we ban to make this place more peaceful. If Steels tries to keep things peaceful around here, there won't be a problem. It's really not that hard.
