Tonight I picked up The Godfather at Best Buy for $14. I'm glad thar they're releasing the Godfather movies individually now as opposed to the set. I hated III so I never wanted to buy it. But I will get II as well when it's released.

It's still worth it to pick up the set, because you get a ton of bonus features that the individual editions don't have...and in the case with these movies, you actually wanna watch them.

I've had the box set for a good two years, and I have yet to even remove the third film from the box. It's easy to forget that it's there. GO AHEAD AND SPLURGE!

So if I bought II I'd have spent $28 for what I wanted as opposed to $45 or more. I know that the trilogy has a lot of extras. But truthfully I'm more interested in the movies in this case. I like special editions and sets though for these movies what I got suits me just fine.

I bought thr Trilogy on ebay the day it was released. Got a sweet deal, and even watched 3 again. Not as horrible as people make it out to be. A bit slow, but better than half of the shit that is currently released.

see i read the book so i had to see the older genco's face. that scene is one of the best in the whole trilogy and they edited out of the movie.

I wish they would put the Godfather Epic on DVD. It was on VHS and TV , I would love to have that.

I totally spaced this.

I was in Costco and a friend grabbed it and said he'd bought it coz it was finally out, and I was like 'it's been out for a lo... and then i realized what he meant.

I guess The Box Set is a Push; meaning I guess Godfather 3 which many dont watch is balanced by the extras disc, and for the life of me i cant remember if i watched it.

And for me; the trilogy isn't. The Godfathers I + II to me are bookends, and godfather three is a paperback sitting in the corner. An ok read, but it really has, in my opinion, *nothing* to do with, or in common with the original two.

Either way; its amazing that this film exists. All the analysis aside; I + II are just great stories and [especially Part 2] just gorgeous to watch; now that FINALLY they did the corrections that plauged the versions you saw on Cable for years. Not sure if anyone else remembers but for some reason/s those prints were dark as hell, and not the good dark with detail that they show, and which shows up Wonderfully on this DVD.

But I remember watching Godfather II on cable and on dark scenes, like in the cafes in the flashbacks, I was like, Whats wrong? I cant see a thing?

I've seen most of the special features on the box set, as well as many different specials and interviews enough to not need all the extras. Which isn't to say the box set isn't worth having. It just doesn't suit my needs.

As for III, I agree with you in that it really has little to do with the first two. I think the most disappointing thing about it is that it sounded like a really great idea for a continuation of the story, however it was done horribly. I would love to see III re-written and re-done. It's almost more intriguing that the idea of III was to move away from the first two, the problem was that the story was just poorly written and executed.

The biggest problem with III is that someone in this world honestly thought George Hamilton would be a good replacement for Robert Duvall.

Let's get controversial, you fuckers!!! I actually think Godfather III is underrated and not nearly as bad as everyone says! Is it as good as the first two? Of course not! But those two flicks are among the finest films ever made!! If you look at Godfather III for what it is- more of a Michael Corleone epilogue (as opposed to whole films about the rise and fall of an entire mafia family), then I think it's quite good!! Bring it on!! I says bring it on!!! I bite your ear off like Andy Garcia!!!Arrrhhh!!**

**(Andy Garcia in Godfather III, that is)

III is a very good movie. It just looks like crap next to the other two, which are argueably the greatest films ever made.

Plus Briget Fonda and George Hamilton are in it. Doesn't help it's case. But I still like III.
