Did they know this was going to be a series finale when they shot the last episode or was this suppose to be a season finale?

Just so for those who didn't watch it I won't spoil it yet but he isn't staked and signs away his Shanshu Prophesy to become human again.

I knew it was on, didn't even bother with it. Played Onimusha instead on PS2.

I've thought this season largely was mediocre to bad, despite the addition of Spike. I've found that everything Whedon's done in the last couple years has been rather pedestrian, and the sad thing is that I know many, many Whedon fanatics who are so enamored with everything this guy does that they're approaching Star Wars fanboy level.

Don't blame me....I voted for Kodos.
I look forward to an orderly election that will eliminate the need for a violent bloodbath. </center>

I disagree. I think the series got weak when Joss was focusing on Firefly last year, but this season really picked up, especially towards the end. I thought the final episode was good, tied up most of the loose ends, and I want to fight the dragon.

Awful. Answered little. No closure. If anything, you could say the bad guy won.

According to Joss:
"The word 'cliffhanger' is really a misnomer here," series co-creator Joss Whedon stresses to TV Guide Online. "This was not the final grace note after a symphony, the way the Buffy finale was. We are definitely still in the thick of it [at the end]. But the point of the show is that you're never done; no matter who goes down, the fight goes on.

"Did I end it this way so that it could lead into an exciting sixth season? Yes, but this is still a final statement, if that's what it needs to be."

The above was snipped from a TVguide online article.

In my opinion the series finale of a 5 year run should be a little more bombastic. I would've liked to have seen more of the executions of the Black Thorn circle...the montage wasn't enough for me...

theres is a very specific reason why they ended like they ended it. 1) there will be a series of 'angel' movies on the wb next year. starting about fallish. 2) do not be surprised if either a spike or faith tv show shows up on wb or upn in a matter of years.

as for the finale itself it was very strong if you ask me. angle didnt start fighting so he could become human, he began fighting for forgiveness. thats what the show was about. angles accpetance of his fate. 2 eps ago he accepted that he had to move on from buffy, and he did the next ep with wolf girl. and he had resolution with connor, wesley impressed me more than anyone this season and it continued last night. would i have liked a few more cameo's sure. but the wb didnt give the folks at angel enough time. im sure they would have given us kate back, and gwen, and appearances by darla and dru. and buffy too. but they were not given enough time.

I thought the finale was great. Probably the best episode of the season, and I want to watch it again.
Great moment: when Lorne completes his task and you suddenly realize why he's never coming back.

the wb decided not to renew it for another year so in effect they were cancelled...so they had to do a finally fairly quick that is why they took a long break and showed reruns so they could shoot the final episodes..the finale was ok...it did leave the door open for future stuff and spinoffs

Did you really think that they show would end by satisfying every question?

If it had, I would have been really disappointed.

The open-ended finale leaves the door open for many possibilities.

Even the Buffy ending left open the door for more possibilities as well.

Do you guys want all the answers or do you want the series to continue in another venue? Like books or movies.

PS. Thankfully it didn't end like the X-Files (slow and painful until you finally gave up on it).

The finale was spectacular. And by ending it the was he did (the final scene), Joss was making a point: It isn't about Angel dying in glorious battle, or Angel's triumph over evil - It's about how heroes never stop fighting.

theres is a very specific reason why they ended like they ended it. 1) there will be a series of 'angel' movies on the wb next year. starting about fallish.

Sorry. No, there won't. This is the end, at least for the forseeable future. The tv-movie thing is something the WB threw out there, like a consolation prize, but Joss has said that no one has approached him with ANY real offer, and he has already released all the producers, writers, and cast to find other work. When word started to leak about how the show was ending (again: the final scene), the rumor mill cranked up into high gear, with everyone assuming this was a cliffhanger to be resolved in a future project.

do not be surprised if either a spike or faith tv show shows up on wb or upn in a matter of years.

Yes, James Marsters has said he'd still be interested in playing Spike, so that could happen. But I think TRU CALLING got renewed, so don't expect to see Faith anytime soon. I doubt ANY "Buffyverse" tv stuff will appear before fall 2005, if then.

But hey, the movie SERENITY will be out next summer. Let's all look forward to that.
