I still think that the whole Eugene gimmick is, pun intended, incredibly retarded.

Still, that little "skit" is an example of why I really DO, to some extent, respect The Rock, as opposed to guys like HHH or Undertaker, because Rock knows - as the other two should, but don't - that his spot in the upper echelon of the WWE is forever secure and thus he's more than happy to do what he can to put over the younger / newer talent.

Couldn't agree w/ you more on the Rock thing. I just wonder how they will explain that Dinsmore isn't actually retarted when this gimmick ends. Great stuff by the rock.

Lots of stiff shots tonite, And I bet Jericho fucked up his leg. Batista is a killer in there, and not in a good way.

I really hope that the Rock resigns after his contract is up. He can blow the roof off an arena without ever wrestling.

Quick, when was the last time the Underseller did anything to elavate a younger talent???

It's been awhile.

Tool, it would only take a moment in the ring with the right facial expression for Dinsmore to take this character in a different direction. As dumb as this gimmick is, he's making it work. I tend to think of the character as more of a halfwit then a retard, or similar to a George "the Animal" Steele or a Rick Steiner. With the great interaction with Regal and Dinsmore, I hope they let this gimmick run a while before throwing it away, if only because it's different than the rest of the dark and angry character.

Who didn't see the "retard strength" sign in the audience? Makes me wonder if there are R&F fans there. :)

I can see the change explained this way. "Eugene" never liked his Uncle Eric, and acted like a retard because he knew it would keep Eric away. More, his act keeps his opponents off-balance and unprepared for his wrestling ability, and lets him see the "real person" in how the other wrestlers treat him outside the ring.

Now I'm starving

I'm about to turn it up a notch!

He'll probably get hit in the head and all of a sudden is smart.

Vince Russo, is that you?

I see the Hacksaw side of it last night. The only thing that really upset me last night was Coach's interview with him. The second he starts getting made fun of because of the retardation it becomes offensive. If they promote Eugene as A great wrestler who happens to be retarded, instead of just the retarded wrestler, this could actually be a good thing.

The only thing that is wrong with your arguments about the Eugene gimmick is that technically, he's not nor has ever been called retarded. He's just a slow. I mean, he speaks very intelligently, sure he acts a little strange, but he's not like Timmy retarded or when Cartman portrayed something he thought resembled retarded. Eugene is just not as bright as the other wrestlers and his way of thinking just happens to be that of a child.

The best resolution to the gimmick I've seen was actually proposed by someone on another message board: just turn "Eugene" heel by having Dinsmore drop the act and state that he was never retarded, he just acted that way to a) make fun of the retarded and b) dupe all of the idiot fans.

Which is a better idea than mine: put a mask on him and have him return to portraying "El Conquistador".

Okay, for the last time, he's not retarded, just slow, and I liked El Conquistador.

Eh... I prefer Chavo Classic, myself.

He could go away for a month or two, shave and cut his hair, and change his name. Poof! New gimmick. And most people wouldn't know he was the same guy, anyway...

Actually, your pretty much right because Dinsmore looks like a completely different person when he's shaved and has short hair.

Have to admit that HHH has turned over a new leaf... counted the lights for Shelton Benjamin and tapped for Chris Benoit.

I guarantee you Trips was under orders. I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth believe me. Raw has been made 10 times better because of it but I can't believe that just all of a sudden he's willing to put ANYONE over effectively. If he wanted to put someone over he could have done it long before now. I'm just glad the WWE brass showed him that he's just a wrestler and all wrestlers job for the greater good. It's part of the business. As far as Rocky goes he's always been willing to put other people over. Angle, Foley, Jericho and Lesnar all got their first world title runs off of the Rock and that's because Rocky isn't threatened by anyone elses success.

Were those pictures supposed to help prove my point or argue it? And yes, that is one of the best qualities about the Rock because he knew he was gonna be a star the moment he started. Cocky, yes, but look at him now.
