Growing up, I never realized how many eye sores baseball teams called home throughout the 1980's.

Which ballparks were the worst in your opinion?

Mine are:
-Veterans Stadium
-Joe Robbie Stadium
-Jack Murphy Stadium
-Kingdome
-Memorial Stadium (Baltimore)
-Worst of all: Olympic Stadium, place is a graveyard.

Who is Karim Garcia?? I no respect heem.

Shit I cant imagine much worse then being next to one of those Girders or whatever they were called at the Old Yankee Stadium.

The Meadowlands [Giants Stadium] I would argue has become a dump; but was nice when it opened. When I was at Bruce last summer the shows started well before dark, and the disrepair of so many upper sections was really apparent. Sad. I guess, like everything else, when it was band new, sure seemed nice.

Continental Arena is still a great place for its size to see a concert. Someone had live music in mind, not circus acts or hockey, well maybe all, but they considered bands too when building it; your upper level seats there are not as horrific as say, section 430 at the Garden. Yow!

The stadium in Jersey City that they finally demolished. The name slips me right now.
That piece of shit on Randall Island.
Shea.

Three Rivers, and all of those Doughnut-shaped all purpose venues for that matter, were and still are aweful. PNC is an absolute GEM. Unfortunately it is soiled 82 times a year.

Bowie, Md.: Berkeley, I'm so glad you're back!; I've really missed The Far Side all these years.

Berkeley Breathed: Yes, thank you, but I don't draw Far Side. I draw Calvin and Hobbes.

wasnt Yankee Stadium built in 1923? I'm confused. Was there an Old Yankee Stadium in recent years I dont know about or am I just reading this wrong? Or are you talking about the pre-renovation period?

Hands down far and away the ugliest stadium ever is The Vet in Philly. Olympic is def. up there, but the Vet was much worse

Pre-Renovation. Same stadium; minus girders.

If you're just talking asthetics, Cleveland Municipal Stadium (gone almost ten years now, pre Jacob's Field and the new Browns Stadium) was by far the fugliest thing standing... although for entertainment purposes, 80's & early 90's Brown's games, concerts, etc., it kicked ass! But just too GD big and cavernous for baseball (it held over 70k and the tribe drew around 5k then), and too immobile and far from the field for football (the lone exception being north endzone, aka, the dawg pound)

They knocked it down about 10 years ago when the built the Wachovia Center (the Wachovia Center was the CoreStates Center then, before it became the First Union Center).

The stadium in Jersey City that they finally demolished. The name slips me right now.
Roosevelt Stadium

I have to agree with most people here. The cookie cutter stadiums (Three Rivers, The Vet, Riverfront) were bland.

Cleveland Municipal Stadium was not only ugly and cavernous but a death trap as well. I can't imagine how many drunks must have fallen off the catwalks going to the upper deck. The atmosphere was great as a result of the fans, though.

Shea and Giants Stadium are looking kind of ratty and are beginning to show their age these days.

Isn't that the same lake that was so polluted, it caught fire?

It wasn't the lake, it was the river that caught on fire. And i'm pretty sure 'the mistake on the lake' is used to describe Cleveland as a whole. Also Erie, PA. And possibly one or two other towns on Lake Erie.

I think most of the stadiums in DC are pretty Ugly, espically the new Jack Kent Cooke Stadium (they call it FedEx now), the old Cap Centre (then US Air Areana, Then US Airways Areana, then Cap Centre, now it's a mall).
