The murders in Columbine High is a sure thing for me renting Gus Van Sant's "Elephant", even thought it's a fictional look at the similar tragic events. But why is it that he needed to make a real crappy art film? If it was a straight story about disconnected youths running amok with automatic weapons, shooting up an entire school full of unsuspecting kids, I would have at least enjoyed it on some level (pure fantasy, don't worry, I'm not a sick!). That's not Van Sant's goal here, he wanted to give it a student level production with non-actors (the kids) in empty roles, almost a silent movie.

The camera follows various students in the normal schoolday, moving down the hall, entering the lunchroom, library, toilet, the music room....this is tedious enough for a full hour. Then 2 gay video heads with heavy guns and ammo and pipe bombs go on a violent shooting spree....The End! I just saved you the rental fee..Thank Me Later! This is pure junk, and worse of all it's by the guy who made the "Psycho" remake. Asswipe. I wish someone would shoot this mook! A picnic in a Browntown NJ sewer was more enjoyable! DICK!
