Live E3 Coverage

Gaming dorks rejoice... I'm here to bring you the best E3 coverage next to actually being there. In case anyone's as huge a nerd as I am, I have 4 good sites that should have you covered if you're interested in what's going on at E3 2004. Here they are:

* Nintendojo (http://www.nintendojo.com/e3_2004) (This site's been up and down today 'cuz it can't handle as much traffic as bigger sites, but great Nintendo coverage.)
* GameSpot's Update Page (http://www.gamespot.com/all_updates/index.html) (These badboys are updating every 15-20 minutes. Good shit.)
* GamerFeed (http://www.gamerfeed.com/) (Pretty good coverage, focusing heavily on Sony and Microsoft.)
* IGN's E3 Page (http://www.ign.com/e3/2004/) (As you would expect from IGN, you'll get bombarded with advertisements, but every now and then they pull out an exclusive, so it's worth having your browser open to.)

So far, nothing TOO huge has been announced, but here's some highlights:
- PlayStation 2 is now $149.
- The PSP's specs have been confirmed and some tech demos are available on IGN.
- A small games list has been revealed for PSP, including Tony Hawk, FIFA, Metal Gear Solid, and Twisted Metal.
- The first image of the Nintendo DS has been revealed and it is as useless as everyone predicted it would be.
- Doom III slated to finally be released this summer.
- Sega announced earlier this morning that they have a "mind-blowing" announcement to make later. Who knows... They've got my attention.

In a video that i just watched streaming live on GameSpot, they showed a video of scenes from "realistic" Zelda. The game is no longer a myth, 'cuz it's apparently "coming soon." The crowd went absolutely wild, and Shigiru Myamoto ran out dressed as Link.

E3 doesn't officially start until tomorrow, so that's when the stuff will really start to come out. (like Sega's supposedly huge announcement) What I'd like to see is actual PSP screenshots, which I haven't been able to find yet. There are a few DS screenshots out there, but no PSP. I hope they come out by Friday.

And if you don't have G4 but do have TechTV, they'll be airing E3 live tomorrow at 10PM, Thursday at 5PM and 10PM, and Friday at 5PM.

Wow, I just checked out the direct feed movies for MGS3 and its amazing. Only thing is, its 1964 so its definetly not the Snake we know, most likely Big Boss yet they keep calling him snake.

Also, I'm excited to see the new Zelda: Minish Cap for GBA and impressions on Metroid Prime 2 Echoes are coming in suggesting game of the show.

I'm watching the G4 E3 preview on techTV. I've never watched G4 before, but if this is any indication of how the channel is, I'm horrified. Hbox, are you an insider? I just downloaded the Snake Eater Videos on IGN HERE (http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/536/536086/vids_1.html). Its split into 5 parts. 2 are actual in game footage from the press conference and the other 3 parts are the trailer. Its so huge they split it up. Check it out, its awesome.

So Day 1 wasn't quite as exciting as yesterday's pre-show... although we got to see a lot more details on the games that were announced yesterday.

Any insight on the widescreen? It looks like its 16:9 and not stretched yet again, who knows. I"ll be so excited if its actually widescreen, Nintendo has got to start supporting widescreen games.

Certain GameCube games support progressive scan, and some of those games support 16X9 if you have a HDTV. Prime supported progressive, but not widescreen. Looks like 2 will support widescreen.

If you want the progressive scan wires, you have to buy it directly from Nintendo, they don't sell it in stores.

Yeah I've got a widescreen HDTV and the component cables and I'm sick of stretching my games. All 1st party Nintendo games support progressive scan, but it looks like between RE4 and possibly Metroid Prime 2 they're taking the step towards widescreen.

Nice move Nintendo.

Those Prime 2 videos are sick. The light and dark worlds along with dark and light samus plus dark and light beams are so cool. I can't wait until they get the demo in stores.
