Does anyone have "That Girl" or guy if you are a woman, who if they came back into your life would make you re-evaluate things? Let me explain.
When i was a weee little freshmen in college (5 years ago), there was this girl in one of my classes. I went to an engineering college, so good looking girls were few and far between and stood out like a sore thumb. Anyway, I got up the nerve to ask her out and she accepted. I was on cloud nine.
We were great together. Had so much fun, and dated for a few weeks over that summer. Anyway things started to cool off, but we saw each other on campus or whatever. One night I call her drunk, and ask what happened. pretty much made a fool out of myself. Anyway she said, if only I were older it would have been perfect. she said "I will call you when you graduate". Whatever, at the time thought it was a line.
BY then end of my junior year I meet this new girl, matured A LOT. got a good job. life is good. I am happy, in love with this new girl. We move in together, and basically that is where I am now.
Of course, there are little things I would like to change about her, but nothing even close to a major flaw. In my eyes, she is perfect.
Sounds good right? Life is good. Then out of no where, I am at work and I get an IM from the other girl. She said call me, said she can't talk on IM for to long and sends me her number. I have NEVER cheated on my current girl friend or would I ever. But for some reason, a force took control and made me pick up that damn phone and called her.
Talking to her was great. She knew I was with this new girl from the last time we spoke. She also had a boyfriend. Anyway she dumped him, and I guess thought of me.
So for the past week all I have been thinkng about is this girl. Wondering what it would be like to be with her. We never broke up, it just kind of ended due to circumstances. Never had a fight ot any hard feelings. Basically, if not for the current girl, I would still think about the first girl all the time.
So in closing, who is the one person who you still kind of think about, even though you are with or have been with someone else. And did you ever get back with them?
As a side note, I have been asked about a million times lately when I am getting married. And I have been thinking about it and that it could be soon. I am thinking a proposal with in the year. ANyway, maybe it is just cold feet? Who knows, all I know is my head is spinning.

I got one of those "That Girl" too. We never broke up but sort of drifted away. The funny thing is that she's my good friend's sister. I try not to think about her and stuff (if we got back together), we've moved on in our lives. Besides with the way she is she's too controlling and I need my SPACE. Now that I think about it, maybe that's why we're no longer together . But we're still FRIENDS- I'll be there for you! ;p (See another FRIENDS reference tonight!). But I know that if she'll call me or need a favor- I can NEVER say NO to her. She's my Kyptonite.

Thats kind of how i feel about this other girl. Like she said call and I did. And I never go out of my way for a girl. But for some reason, she wants it and she's got it. I am just waiting for the invatation to "get coffee". We have not seen each other in person for over 2 years.
M1, thanks for the advice. I know I could always count on you to come through with some wisdom.

Ok not to be the Tom Lykis here, but I dont know of too many people who talk of relationships where the people dont break up, they just drift apart, or stop seeing each other.
ANY breakup requires blood sweat tears shouting throwing shit having arguments over absolutely nothing at all insane jealousy revenge stalking phone call hang ups smear campaigns fucking all their friends calling their parents drunk at 3am writing pathetic please come back notes followed the next day by fuck you asshole notes and then you have that awesome shouting match where youre on the lawn and shes on the second florr and just chucking your shit out the window...

Meet her for coffee, see what happens. Maybe you'll just end up to be friends, but at least you won't regret not going. Marriage? How old are you, around 23? You'd be insane to get married that young.

I have a "That Girl" as well, we all do somewhere. I never really dated mine, we hung out a bunch, I wrote some really good (and really bad) poetry about her. Things never worked out, she said some mean things that later she claimed she never said. Anyway, I used to wonder what I would do if she contacted me. Then one day, I realized that it wasn't her I was really attracted to, it was the fantasy of what dating her would be like. Generally, its not worth it, let it stay in the past as a fond (or not so fond) memory. You said you have a girl now, keep her. If you guys break up, then maybe think about this other girl. Chances are good being with her isn't all you've made it out to be in your mind.

Why mess up the good thing you have now? It's not worth it. Although I understand where you are coming from- what if she's only looking for someone to fill in until the next boyfriend comes along? She may not realize it herself, but she could just be looking for someone she is familiar with to fill the void temporarily. If you current girl is OK with you having her as a friend, don't let it go any further or you may wind up without either of them.

I have a that girl, too. She drives me to depressions, drinking, and outbursts of violence.
However, I also had a different "She gave me 3 ulcers" that girl, which for me would be my mother. At least mom never leaves you.

She is only calling you because she just broke up with her boyfriend and thinks you may be a sure thing for the rebound.
Why fuck up things with the girl you already have, and love? You are romanticizing the past with this other girl who it sounds like you really didn't even know that well.
I've seen this happen before... always ends up bad bad bad

Missy (and everyone else)
thanks for the advice. I thought about the rebound thing. he and her boyfriend broke up in January, so it was not to recent. But she may have just started to feel lonely and called. whatever.
I doubt anything will ever happen, she was a cool girl to date when i was 19, but prolly not anymore.
I am happy where I am and will stay, but it is weird to know that she is "that girl", because up until last week, i would have swore I did not have one.

I've found when people ask for relationship advice they usually just end up doing what they want anyway....even though they know it's wrong and everyone tells them so. I've done it and I've seen it happen with my friends. I think somewhere in the back of your mind you already know that you want to leave your chick and be with this other one. Please don't.

Just busting on you.
Good luck with it. Also, with regards to recent, January is recent. I broke up with a girl and didn't get involved again for over a year because it was too recent. This is definitely a case where normal time limits don't necessarily apply.
