Dont worry though, as long as there is a players union, this wont go through and Pedro will still be a Yankee next year...

If he gets some of the deferred intrest they will. Teams gotta do this to compete against Georgie Warbucks. Good for Manny. A nice hometown boy.

Until he becomes a Yankee, then everyone will love his heart.
By the way. Zimmer got what he deserved.

My favorite player in Baseball right now is Pedro. He's a jealous has been thatll have that team over pay out their ass to keep him resulting in an Alan Houston type situation in Boston untill his next contract runs out. Whos a big free agent after this year? Boston wont be getting him.

i'll tell you what, as much as I hate Manny, Pedro, and the Sox. You don't see a lot fo pro ball players offering to do what Manny is doing, I think it's a noble thing. Granted he is way overpaid, but still, it's a good thing to do for a team.

1) Sox are the second highest payroll in baseball. Not only does the whole money issue not hold water, but Florida won the Series and they're one of the lowest payrolls
2) Manny is from New York. He went to high school in Manhattan.

Never. And I never really liked Clemens as a Yankee, either.

Keeping Varitek, Lowe, Nomar and Nixon is more important.

Where you from Jon? I'm from NY, that makes Manny a hometown Washington Heights boy.

All the fearful Yankee fans can cut the shit. The guy may be brittle, but he is dominating for at least 15 games a year and wins about 15 (taking some of those dominating games away because Boston may not be hitting). Any team that gets him should be proud. He may also be an asshole but look who owns your team. They'd fit right in together.

yes, yes, no, and yes. boston was ready to ship him out on his ass this off season, dont preach about how keeping him now is of utter importance to this team. he slumped when it mattered in last year's playoffs, i think the Sox can survive without him.

I would have agreed with you before the last 5 games. I don't think it's "utterly" important to keep him -- but it's pretty important.

Sure I would offer up a billion dollars if I knew there was no way I was going to have to pay it. Manny knows good and well that he would NEVER be allowed to do it as long as the union has any power left at all. Do you have any idea how many players would probably restructure their contracts if this were allowed? Look at Chan ho park, that idiots being payed 15 mil. Look at Contreras, 9 mil for basically nothing at this point.
