If I was still living in NYC I'd be putting on my body armor and heading up to see Moz at the world-famous Apollo Theatre.
The Apollo Website...scroll down for the Morrissey info (http://www.apolloshowtime.com/calendar.asp#%3Cb%3Emorrisseyliv)
Anyone going to try and make it?

Just a thread about the new Morrissey album, not the tour.
And I was unable to get tickets to any of the shows.
And that cock STILL isn't touring the east coast.
BAH.

What's next? P-Funk headlining in Branson?
I can just picture Moz rubbing that stump for good luck, in hopes of not being swept off the stage by that shufflin' Sandman the Clown.

Things might go awry when someone tells Morrissey to rub the stump.

Am I the only one scared to go into Harlem after dark to see the show? Hell, I'd definitely park downtown and take a subway to the show, but I don't have tix...

I got tickets to the show for Saturday Night and admit I'm a little nervous to be in Harlem at that time. If the bad guys do come up to us, I'm hoping like hell they want to play cards because I'll be with 4 queens.

harlem's really not that bad, guys. relax. it's not a white area, but that doesn't make it dangerous. i went to school around there; it's fine.
i wouldn't suggest you walk around at night alone, but i would advise against that almost anywhere.

Post's Review of Morrissey Show (http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/20146.htm)
Apparently, his show's sounding good. He's doing a good mix of old stuff (including Smiths stuff) and new stuff. They also said he appears somewhat out of shape and had some trouble catching his breath. I guess it does suck to be an aging pop star.

If any one is interested in a review of the show, here's mine:
I went Saturday Night. The first thing you need to know about the Apollo, if you've never been there, is it is absolutely tiny. I don't know what camera angles they use on TV, but it looks so much larger. The other thing about the Apollo is it is very old. They were doing some construction in the back, water damage, etc. The place, however, sounds great.
David Johansen opened the show. Not really a tremendous fan of his work at any stage of his career (NY Dolls, Buster Poindexter, Current), however, he did a great job as an opening act. Played loud and fast, real short breaks between songs. His voice sounded really clear and strong, although he looks like he weighs about 26 pounds.
After a short intermission, the curtain opened again to an empty stage. Some music started playing and someone with a heavy British accent was reading something over the music. The accent was so heavy I could only understand one out of every 5 things said. After a little while of this, he came out with the rest of the band. He starts singing "My Way". Without going song by song, it was amazing. Morrissey sounds great! Song list here (http://www.morrissey-solo.com/article.pl?sid=04/05/02/1735257) His voice is as strong as its been in a while. His band is real tight. If you knew the words, you screamed along, if you didn't you were still transfixed by the walking glob of charisma that is Morrissey.
My highlights from the show:
When they played Everyday is Like Sunday. Probably the only song every one knew and sang along with.
They played Rubber Ring, which they usually start but end up playing another tune but this time they played the entire thing.
Morrissey commenting that the reason the tickets were $50 was for the extra histrionics and dramatics.
Morrissey: "This song is about the eighties.....The 1880's!" They launch into a nasty version of Jack the Ripper.
The closer: There is a Light That Never Goes Out. I've never seen that large a group gleefully chanting "to die by your side, well the pleasure, the privilege is mine". Awesome. Then one by one, the band started leaving. Of course, Morrissey first, then Alan, Boz, Gary. At the end, it's just the drummer and keyboard/synth guy. Then the drummer breaks out, leaving the keyboard guy just playing that synth part at the end. Amazing.
At the end, all the people in the audience looked like they had just had orgasms. If he comes back, see him.

I'm sorry, but Morrissey's backing band as a solo artist always has been and always will be better than The Smiths.
Fuck Marr.

I saw Johhny Marr on his solo tour last year at the Black Cat. It was good stuff. But then I was much more of a fan of The The then I ever was of the Smiths.

I saw that show.
Sounded to me like Marr was just trying to sound like his best friend du jour, Noel Gallagher.
