I'm going to Atlantic City Thursday and plan to play Texas Hold'em poker. Anyone else play or have any tips for Hold'em Poker?

i played for a few weeks on a website called "absolutepoker.com" until i got bored with it...

to me it seems the odds are better to have alot of patience and fold immediately when you have crappy hole cards. it sucks because you have to watch the rest of that game but i believe it's the way to go.

alot of times you feel you may 'get lucky' and catch the 'possible straight' or 'possible flush' but much more times than not you're gonna be laying additional money for someone else's pot.

if you have that patience and it works for you a few times then you will have a better chance of 'bluffing' someone out later in the game...

just some of my observations... playing online for FUN really has a 'little' bit of worth because people react differently when their money is on the table. But some people take the FUN as serious and actually play as if money was on the line so you learn a few little things...

don't bet on the strength of your cards. study the community cards and consider all possible hands and then bet or fold considering what you have....too many people think 3 of a kind is a given without even looking what is on the board.

and if there are 3 suited cards on the board bluff your ass off and go all in immediately to steal the pot.

Consider how much is in the pot and how much the bet is. If the odds of you getting the card you need are less than the odds you would get for making the wager you may want to consider a fold.

For example, after the flop if there are 9 people at the table there are 31 possible cards remaining. If you have a pair of 10's in the hole you only have 2 'out cards.' the odds of getting that card is 2 out of 31. But if you have 4 for a flush (2 in your hand and 2 in the community) your odds are 9 out of 31. There is a possibility of course that your cards are already out and in play. If you've never played I would suggest not playing. Experienced players will always win in the long-run.

I played it for the 1st time and it was okay. If you don't play every hand you can last awhile. I bought in for $50 worth of chips and after 2 hrs. I walked away with $15. Not bad considering that I can drop a load on Roulette and Slots (which I did :(). I'm planning to enter the Sands tournament one time on Friday nights (buy in is like $35.00).

I played this weekend with 6 other people. we each put in 20 bucks. We then gave out 65 dollars worth of chips. we played winner take all. Kind of like the tourney on TV. The winner, which was me BTW, walked away with 120 bucks, plus the original 20 back. not a bad night. I never had more than 65 until it was me and one other person left. I had 33 dollars, he had all the rest. and i beat him. straight up. and he had to pay this man his money.
