It was first broadcast in America on Comedy Central.
Did they mention MST3K at all?

I know that about ABFAB but they made it seem like their own. And no, no mention of MST3K. And they just let Judy Gold do her act. Awful.

Was Absolutely Fabulous ever funny? I have only seen bits and pieces of it but I never ever even cracked a smile at anything on that show. It seems awful.

was UCB mentioned? I saw probably an hour of the special it and really expected them to have Adam Corolla mention it when he was talking about the bad shows, so that i could kick a hole in my TV. And out of ignorance, what is MST3K?
EDIT: I am young and only remember the show with the robots watching movies as being on SciFi as far as i remember. If that is what yall are talking about.

Yeah that how it was with me and Brit comedy. I remember three things about first seeing Monty Python: 1. You Saw Tits 2. It was hard to understand what they were saying and 3. It wasnt funny. The tits part stayed the same, then i started to understand what they were saying, and then some of the common Brit slang, and then realized; these are Awesomely Un-PC shows that do things no Big Network Thursday Night Show would ever dream of.
You have a brain-damaged acid casualty who is getting drunk/stoned at the drop of a hat, with a nerdy daughter; and their friend who parties like Keith Richards, and Fucks anything that moves. And the langauge is The Tits. Cheers.
Jennifer Saunders in interview, is utterly unknowable, compared to her character. If only America had a lady comic as funny.

That's it.
It's heyday was when it was on Comedy Central, I think for a good eight years...and it was basically the networks cornerstone show for most of that time until the last couple seasons.
And Mike...so AbFab is funny...but Monty Python isn't?
I think both are hugely overrated, but at least MP has made me smile. AbFab just seems to be about misery and just what you said...trying to be as "un-PC" as possible, yet without having a plot, point or punchline. And thus you're left basically with a scripted Jerry Springer show. It's all shock (And not even that is done well) and no substance. It's an average American sitcom mutated into a British one. Pass.
British comedy CAN be funny...if it's "The Office." The Monty Python shows don't really do it for me, but "Life of Brian" is one of the greatest comedies ever put to film, period.
