Amidst all the allegations and all the crap happening in Iraq is Presient Bush in trouble or is it just a bump in the road for him?

I say it is too early to tell. The people behind Bush can make things happen. One of them probably will be that he remains unscathed. Impeachment? Well, as Ron has said on occasion, means nothing.

The news media will make it seem like he is in trouble in an attempt to make him look less credible because they dont want him to win, but most polls Ive seen seem to show he has 50% or so approval #s in other areas on the country. Im not saying he didnt do the right thing with Iraq, nor that he isnt viewed well by the media which has a left leaning slant, nor do I agree with him on every issue he puts forth, though I do lean sharply to the right on most issues. I think he will be in trouble in the debates though, because he cant really communicate well and Im sure Kerry will mop the floor with him in a debate setting.

How many problems and revelations can this guy have and they can just be chalked up to "smear campaigns?" It's getting beyond ridiculous.

You can't possibly really believe that.....

left leaning media?!?!? who, NBC? who's parent company, GE, makes missles? Rupert Murdoch? Viacom? Time Warner? Disney? Who the hell is this "leftist" media that has everything to lose by Bush cutting taxes for the rich and letting big corporations do whatever they want?!?!?

holy crap, how blind are you?

Excellent! The same charge was made by Leslie Stahl of 60 Minutes. She was flabbergasted that someone during an interview suggested that 60 Minutes, and CBS, and the parent coming were all Liberlas, all lefties, etc.

The person asked: then please, the name of a right wing or right leaning correspondent at 60 Minutes, or CBS.

I think he's still waiting for the answer.

Hey, I dont watch much TV at all. About an hour this month so far. So, and I'm neither left nor right, I take each issue on its own, and my opinion goes where it goes, and I dont care which party line it might happen to land on.

So, Having said that, and this is not done in a malicious way, but please someone: Is there indeed a blatantly right leaning media person or persons at CBS? Not a joke. I seriously loathe TV; especially lately, and for me, there's just too much shit to read to keep up on current events.

[edit: Shit, I forgot to answer the question. Is Bush In Trouble? Up to his eyeballs I'd say. What concerns me more is that fewer are asking the q: Are WE In Trouble? the USA. That is a most deinate Yes, and the solution to the VAST Majority of problems edemic are Related in NO Way, NONE Whatsoever, with who sits behind the desk in the Oval Office; be it Bush, Clinton, Bush 1, or any other, actually. IMHO.]

We're also still waiting for an answer to the question, "what was your biggest mistake since taking office?"

More smokescreens, more lies, more brainwashing by the administration.

Who at CBS is a right winger? how about Mel Karmazin? I'm sure he got a nice big kickback... um, I mean tax break.

Yes and no. He doesn't look good as a result of this mess. However, in my opinion, Kerry is a weak challenger with a record that will probably come back to bite him on the ass.

Bush will get re-elected. And in 2008 the Dems will cruise into the White House unless the Republicans can find an "uber-candidate" that can transcend party alliances....such as Guiliani.

I think he's missed his chance for that. He might have an outside chance at an appointed position in the white house, but he'll never make a serious run for President.

If the Republicans take another 4 years, look for Hillary to make a run for the top spot.

Another person who's political career has pretty much ended is Colin Powell. His prime moment was back when Clinton was running for his second term.

If Kerry happens to win it (I think that barring a scandal, he'll probably take it after much recounting has been done), the question is who would the Republicans put forward as his challenger in 2008? For all the talk about the Democrats not having many strong contenders, the Republicans aren't in much better shape beyond this election, especially if Cheney is kept as VP.

not that they could if they wanted to, the republican house would put the kibosh on that before the first two syllibles of "impeachment" was uttered. Though between 1993 and 2000, it was said constantly.

So you're suggesting the news media is mostly right wing leaning? If so, then why would they be doing hatchet jobs on Bush? I'm not suggesting he's not deservant of criticism, but to suggest a portion of the media doesn't report with a leftist/liberal slant is just crazy.

I'm not thrilled with Bush's performance and I'm just as critical of him as anyone else, but I'm also open minded enough to see the liberal slant of a lot of the media, as well as the right wing slant of some of the media such as Fox News.

how blind are you?

To not see the news media interjecting political views within news reporting on either side of the aisle you would have to be blind.

all I see is bush doing a hatchet job on himself, and the media covering for him. The media is run by the same big corporation that Bush is giving Carte Blanche to whatever they want...

what, because Leno and Letterman make fun of him occasionally? they made fun of Clinton too, that doesn't classify as "left leaning"

I can not belive my eyes, people it is time to wake up and smell the bullshit. Bush and his "REGIME" that's right regime are totally ruining this country. They talk about religous fanatics being the enemy of the U.S. well Bush is a religous fanatic that is an enemy to the world and even worse an enemy to his own people. As far as right wing media goes I will name a few but believe me there are alot more. Basically everyone at FOX news, and don't even try and say well they have Alan Combs he is Sean Hannity's bitch and couldn't win an arguement with himself. Wolf Blitzer, Tim Russert, Chris Matthews, & Lou Dobbs to name a few. It sickens me to think that all of these guys kiss the Bush REGIME's ass because all of there company's have something sitting in the republican controlled congress that is waiting to be approved so they can control more media. This great country is being turned into a ultra-conservative nation of mindless fanatical Jesus freaks who don't want to give women the right to choose, who don't want to give us the right to hear or see what we think is acceptable, and who is motivated by one thing MONEY. If Bush gets re-elected we are all in trouble, and even worse our children will be in trouble because they will inherit the mess that is being created.

Uhm, those last three guys work for every American news network EXCEPT Fox News.

As for the rest...Bush is Bush. I'm no fan, but I just don't "get" this idea that he's the second worse thing to sliced Hitler. I don't see it.

Sliced Hitler is a good thing. It's much better than unsliced, genocidal Hitler.

Wow.

After that last post by Hammerhead, I've had a complete change of heart. An epiphany, is what I think it was. I think I shall now vote Democrat come November!

......

....okay, now that the bullshit is out of the way: Tall James gave the most correct answer. Yes, Bush has been hurt, but not nearly as much as his enemies wish he's been, and Kerry is indeed a very weak challenger who does NOT have an easy road ahead of him and has an exceptional shot at losing quite badly come November.

Although I would disagree at saying that the Democrats waltz in at 2008. Unless they nominate someone like Edwards, who MIGHT have a shot, they'll likely be in just as poor a position as they were this time around when it comes to candidates.

i think sometimes, and I guess this is subconscious liberalism on my part, but they report badly on things that can not be defended as good except by right-wingers. Anything I see on the war has been positive and really fully in support of us (I know it is directed at us basically, but there certaintly are legitimate opposing viewpoints). There is some leftist media but i'd say at a portiont hat is equal to the 20 hours or so FOX News directs per-day at kissing el presidente's ass.
I guess I am looking at things as an actual left-right issue rather than a middle-kinda right issue, but I'd hardly say that Bush is being hurt by a media out for his blood.
Bush isn't really in trouble yet because people are still willing to vote for him. He won't really be "in trouble" till the election when we find out if he's gonzo or not.

And sliced Hitler is good with worchestire sauce. I once had to yell at my butcher not to cut it so thick. Oh butchers......{sigh}

oh man I was gonna post that site but it doesn't really add anything. It's the same defenses of Kerry for the defenses of Bush and so on. I read some of it and it just felt like I read that all before.
