View Full Version : Symbolic?

The ending of Backlash's main event seem to have a symbolic reference; considering November 9, 1997. It feels like HBK's way of making amends. A sort of concession to the Canadian audience.

Recall the Montreal screw job...Did Benoit's victory by having HBK tap out to the sharpshooter a vicarious one for Bret Hart and therefore the Canadian fans who are still pissed off from 1997

I'm sure Vince had himself convinced going into that match that if it ended like that, it would somehow make everything nicey nice...but the fans don't care, nothing will ever make up for that night in 1997 to them.

It's as symbolic as a cheese sandwhich on May 8th. Doesn't make anyt sense or connection right? Exactly.

Right...because tornadoes ripped through Oklahoma City on May 8th last year...and all the people left wihtout trailers were lucky if they could scare up a cheese sandwhich to eat. Freaky! :p

I think y'all are coming down too much on Vince. I think Bret screwed Bret, and I think Bret DEFinately woulda shown up on Nitro with Vince's belt. Good for Vonce for ballsing up and protecting his company, and good for Bret for doing what he did, but can't blame Vince.
Anywho, Canadians fucking suck, and should really at some point, think "aboot" getting over it.

Oh definitely, It's understandable that Vince should suspect Hart after after fourteen years, then encourage him to leave for WCW. So Mcmahon was justified in his lying, manipulation and backstabbing.
