I disagree with:

21. Spin Doctors: Two Princes; 1992
23. Corey Hart: Sunglasses At Night; 1984
19. Mr. Mister: Broken Wings; 1985
16. 4 Non Blondes: Whats Up?; 1993

Mambo # 5, Who Let the Dog's Out, The Macarena, and that Milkshake song should be on that list, along with a bunch of random 80's songs by actors-turned-musicians

"THE END" by the doors is one of the worst songs of all time? That is retarded, the end is a masterpiece, it is an epic. I think William Hungs whole cd should have been on there.

These guys just shit themselves when they didn't make the list:

http://www.80smusiclyrics.com/images/safetydance.jpg

We can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine

Say, we can go where we want to, a place that they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind

And we can dance

We can go when we want to, the night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat from our hats to our feet
And surprise them with the victory cry

Say, we can act if we want to, if we don't nobody will
And you can act real rude or totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile

Say we can dance, we can dance
Everything's out of control
We can dance, we can dance
They're doing it from pole to pole
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody taken the chance

The safety dance
The safety dance
The safety dance

We can dance if we want to, we've got all your life and mine
As long as we abuse it we are never going to lose it
And everything will work out right

Say, we can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
well they're no friend of mine

I can't really disagree with anything on that (partial) list not being a godawful song.

But I disagree about "Safety Dance". It has its own charm.

I just emailed Pat Mastelotto; drummer for Mr. Mister and now King Crimson; the article. Hope he already knows.

this will be just another VH1 series where they'll collate a few washed up stars of yesteryear, the cast of the state, somebody that hosted talksoup and a dozen 'c' level comics that will try way too hard .....

45. Ja Rule w/ Ashanti: Mesmerize; 2002

i can already hear the witty banter of chuck nice's take on the grease inspired video .....

i'm glad that limpbizkit made it, where's 'stairway to heaven,' 'free bird' or 'sweethome alabama', that new blink 182 song where they sound all serious and sensitive except you can't make out the lyrics because with all the piercings there's so much lisping, good charlotte's suicide song couldn't crack the list, or how about kelly osboune's 'shut up' .....

i'm still waiting for the 100 essential liner notes as picked by spin ....

while i wouldnt put any of these songs on a best of list, i certainly disagree with their being on a worst of list. and worst of all time? there are just SO many worse songs than these. ugh, i hate these lists. they're always horrible.

and mojo, i realize that you think the doors are way overrated, and i respect that. but, come on, i don't even think you can say with a straight face that "the end" is one of the 50 worst songs of all time. just turn on the radio and you'll hear at least ten that are worse.

41. Billy Joel: We Didn't Start the Fire; 1989
Billy Joel fucking rocks and can do no wrong musically, as far as I am concerned. I am ASTONISHED that they put this song or any Billy Joel song on the list. I guess they needed some appeal for the special instead of just having a block of shit.

12. The Beach Boys: Kokomo; 1988

Classic song. Absolutely classic.
50. Celine Dion: My Heart Will Go On; 1998
31. Crash Test Dummies: MMM MMM MMM MMM; 1994
29. Deep Blue Something: Breakfast At Tiffany's; 1995
25. Puff Daddy w/ Faith Evans and 112: I'll Be Missing You; 1997
21. Spin Doctors: Two Princes; 1992
These songs are all pretty good on their own. They just got played out. Of course, VH1 won't make a list of "Most played out songs," because poisoning music is pretty much their job.

27. Europe: The Final Countdown, 1987
23. Corey Hart: Sunglasses At Night; 1984
6. Huey Lewis and the News: The Heart of Rock and Roll; 1984
These are songs that defined the 80s, and not in a bad way. The fact that they put any Huey Lewis songs on this list is a crime in and of itself.
22: Toby Keith:Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue [The Angry American]; 2002
Perfect example of Viacom tolerating views different from their own. I am sick and tired of the fucking contempt for middle America. Ugh.

Here are a few suggestions: Rock n Roll McDonalds by the late Wesley Wills, MMMbop by Hanson, and If you wanna be my lover by the Spice Girls. The first is a little obcure and made as a joke, but it is beyond me how you could make a list without the other 2.

The cast of the state is always fun, and I don't mind seeing Gilbert Gottfried and Soleil Moon Frye stopping by. What gets me is the wanna-be trendy journalists who have to add their $.02

I still don't understand how they think "The sounds of silence" is a bad song...

You're right. "The End" is in fact the only Doors song I DO like.

Perfect example of Viacom tolerating views different from their own. I am sick and tired of the fucking contempt for middle America. Ugh.

The could have picked a dozen songs with similar "views." They chose one. Because it's just a bad song, period. Why should those "post 9/11" songs get a pass? A bad song is a bad song...and that Toby Kieth song is a BAD song...though he's done MUCH worse. I think I saw one where he was trying to rap...THAT should be up here.

I know it was just an opinion show and everybody is entitled to it but they were kinda lame.
Most of those songs were catchy, corny, etcc, but some are at least " memorable " just because they make you remember a time period.

Sunglasses at night - not a bad song, totallt remins me of the 80's.

4 Non-Blondes, Crash Test, Gerrado - all songs from college

Some though are completely awful.
For example Eddie Murphy &, Right Said Fred.

Although a few people had good comments on the VH1 show, most where whiney nothings.
The one girl who writes for Blender ( which gets anything left over after Maxim and Stuff are done picking through things ) was awful.
What makes her opinion worth a damn ?
Oh thats right, she works for Blender, and all of its 100 copy a month subsciption.
Ditto for the wierd Asian dude & that English clown.

I did see that comedian Mark Babiglia ( sp ?? ) one time at a Sierra Mist thing that Pepsi put on.
He's kinda funny.

I have balls !!!
