Just thought i'd mention that Abraham Lincoln died today 139 years ago. He was shot on the 14th and died early on the 15th...Figured I'd bring it up since no one else had...
I've got plenty of things to not like about Lincoln, but that sonofabitch Booth did the South a lot worse than Lincoln did. Lincoln's policy of reconstruction was pretty concilliatory towards the south, and he would've gotten it through a fringe left wing congress with his mandate from the people, unlike Johnson, who was uncerimoniously dumped by the fringe left in his own party and almost thrown out the door...
The death of Lincoln caused great wounds over this land that can still be seen and felt today...a terrible terrible day in our country's history
