Damn I wanted to start this thread.

Anywho, I am pretty sure that was Seven from OVW as well. Very athletic and powerful big man with a ton of upside reprising the role as a Satanic villain. He will do very well if you have ever seen his work. Maybe he will be the henchmen of Taker when he returns? Or the bigger question is will he take over the role of Undertaker? Noooo!

I like this first promo although I would have preferred Sean O'Haire getting this push but he'll be just fine in TNA. JUST FINE!

...

At least the WWE is bringing in a main event caliber young talent for Smackdown. Hell of alot better than JBL and Bobby Holly.

Info thanks to OVW.com:

As with all of Synn's Disciples, Seven is quiet about his personal life, but he lives by the Seven Deadly Sins as some do an organized religion. He and his partner Bane scored their biggest win to date by winning their first OVW Southern Tag Team Title on March 5, 2003! This was the first OVW Gold for Synn's minions since Leviathan lost the OVW Title to Prototype in Spring 2002. The Tag Titles passed to the WWE's APA in a house show in Lafayette, IN, in early April 2003.

HISTORY: Seven replaced Leviathan as Synn's primary protector in Spring 2002 as Synn was negotiating sale of Leviathan's contract to the WWE's D'Von Dudley for his rebellion against her! She used Seven to defeat the Demon of the Deep in his last OVW appearance at the May 31, 2002 Six Flag show. But Leviathan didn't leave without a Demon Bomb from HELL on both Seven AND Synn!

While Seven's appearance is different than Leviathan's, his huge size and power still are an intimidating and domineering force in the ring! He and Synn at times seem to be lustfully enamored with each other.

Obviously Ron Fez Mark is excited about this guy as much as I am. With the situation of Booker T wanting to retire soon, and the fact that they want to put him in a feud with Taker, maybe Mordecai will be the replacement of Booker. Evil (Undertaker) vs. Evil with good intentions (Mordecai)?

Yeah Mike, I am pretty frickin' excited! He is going to be big as long as they don't screw him like O'Haire!

I know Mordecai/Seven personally, and he has all the right tools to
succeed in the WWE. He worked a number of shows for PCW in 2002,
and was a part of the Russ Haas Memorial Cup show where he
teamed with the late Malice in the Tag Tourney.

Definately reminds me of a young Taker, Not quite as big as him, but
better put together. He is a perfect fit for this role.

Look for a few more OVW guys to come up soon.

Cannon awesome. Tell him I love his in-ring work and am glad the WWE is giving him a chance. Much love to him.

I think he'll do well, and he'd appreciate what you said RFM. He's genuinely a great guy, and is deserving of the chance.

Will the gimmick fly? It has the same appeal as the "classic" Taker gimmick, and truthfully isn't much different than Seven was.

Where the hell is this excitement coming from?

I've seen this guy wrestle. I'm sorry, I don't know him, so I didn't see the guy through rose-colored glasses I guess, but from what I've seen he's nothing special. He's not awful, but he's nothing spectacular at all.

You might be right when you say that he has the tools to succeed in the WWE, because if the recent OVW crop is any indication, he'll fil in with all of the other OVWers who have bland movesets and bland personalities. I'm sitting here wondering what his finisher will be - a lariat, a powerbomb, or a spinebuster. Some variation I'm sure, as it seems to be the only moves they teach them down there.

Will the gimmick fly?

As much as it pains me to agree with Scott Keith, I agree when he says that this gimmick is being done by about 193 people on the indy circuit today. And if I may sound snarky, if they want someone to do that gimmick, just hire Christopher Daniels. He does it better and he's 100 times better in the ring as well.

I do feel bad for this kid, though, because I'm convinced he'll get fed to Taker at the latest by Summerslam. In Taker logic, though, I suppose it'll be "giving him the rub."

Sorry don't mean to "step" on anybody's toes in here, but as far as Mordecai goes. I see that it was not mentioned about the fact that Mordecai, also happened to wrestle for Memphis Championship Wrestling at one point in his career. He was in a group known as the "Triad" w/Headbanger Thrasher & a (personal favorite of mine) Scott "Sick Boy" (Raven's Flock WCW) Vick. I for one am THRILLED about Mordicai being brought up. Now if ONLY WWE will FINALLY debut Scott Vick, who's been in WWE since October 1999!

I finally saw his match with Scotty 2 Hotty and I have to say this guy sucks. He looks like a guy who belongs in OVW and just died his hair and eyebrows. His match with Scotty 2 Hotty should not have lasted longer than a minute. The fans were already bored with him, his first match. His outfit reminded me of of what J-E-Double F J-A-Double R- E- Double T wore to the ring. Give him a cowboy hat and those crazy glasses and you got Jarrett.

Yeah, I wasn't that impressed by that match either. And a Straight Razor's Edge as a finisher is pretty weak.

If he has more to offer, he better throw it down soon.

Maybe if they had just kept his hair the same length as it was before and died it black and gave him a white outfit that resembled his OVW one, he would have been fine. But no matter what color you make him, he's still gonna be green.

I'm going to give Mordecai a chance before I judge him. His first match was with Scotty 2 Hotty, a talent that is boring like watching paint dry. The guy has time to improve and hopefully they will actually put him in bigger matches other than him destroying Kidman and Akio every week.

The guy needs different attire cause the whole Undertaker Lite isn't really doing it.

His entrance is pretty fucking gay. He did have some nice moves against Kidman and Akio, but lets see him try to wrestle someone over 140 pounds.

I usually dislike "characters" in wrestling. This one I like. Let's see where it goes.

I hear that this character was the idea of Tom Pritchard, who's apparently been responsible for a lot of what's going on with Smackdown.

I automatically hate anyone they have coming in and having their first match against a cruiserweight and attacking cruiserweights for no reason (that's why I hated Lesnar.....that and he's a frigging lump), so Mordicai's gonna really have to show me something to make me give a crap.

Bullshit.

He was way too green and, if rumors can be believed, he was scared shitless before every single match he had.

Although I must admit, I do find it odd that Mordecai & Mark Jindrack are the guys who get the demotion, while Kenzo Suzuki and "Luther Reins" get the pushes. What makes one decide which generic and / or awful hoss to push, and which to push?
