there's a huge 3-day music festival out on a 600 acre farm in Tennessee June 11-13th. it features a bunch of really dope acts (but its a pretty large stoner crowd) from Dave Matthews & Trey Anastasio, to Bob Dylan, to The Dead, to Maroon 5. Anyway, I'm going and I can't wait, I have no idea what to expect I've never been to a Woodstock type of thing before. Has anybody ever done one of these festival things for music before? Did you enjoy yourself?

I was at Woodstock 99. It was a mess. Our tent got destroyed, we got some cash stolen, spent way too much money on warm soda and water and I got into a fight. After my friend passed out from the heat, I ended up paying $100 for a shitty motel room 25 miles away from the concert so she could relax and sleep for the first time in 3 days. It was dirty, hot and gross and cost way too much money. But it was also alot of fun. Id do it again anytime.

those are pretty much my vague expectations for the event. i'm pretty sure i will be on some substance at all times, so I know I'll be able to relax and have some fun.

all my experiences with "substance," i've always liked to be in the same place, with a designated chill area. that's why i can't see getting blastered, fensed in.

I'm only 24, but I'm officially at LEAST three years too old for festivals.

I'm almost all club shows now. If the venue holds more than a 1,000 people, it's not worth it. I like to drink and hang out and enjoy the music and NOT be miserable.

And why isn't Maroon 5 DEAD?!?

see, im 22 and i think majority of the people there are going to be within my age rage, if anything i see festivals as an early 20's crowd, not an under 21 event. what teeny booper has the ability to last 3 days in the heat for a hippy music festival?!

and yea Maroon 5 blows, i just wanted to try and give a range of bands that will be there.

Well, THIS festival definitely sounds like it would be an "older" crowd. But Lollapalooza, OzzFest, Warped Tour, local radio festivals, et al? I'd say the average age is 18-19, at best.

Who cares if the guy standing next to you is younger... or older? If I like the band, the music, I'm going. I would love to go to Bonnaroo, but can't make it due to funds. If it was closer - I'd be there.

I wouldn't worry about the age thing. A bunch of friends of mine are going, all in their mid 20s, they've been to it before and say it is generally an older crowd than a typical festival.

I'd go myself if it weren't for the lack of funds. Maybe next year.

Because anyone younger than 18 at a concert of ANY kind is a douchebag and should be kicked in the brain before they ruin everything for everyone else.

Well, if you're in seats at a certain kind (Blink, Green Day, etc.) of concert... yea.. you might get that. But at a big outdoor venue, you can avoid that.

You're gonna get douchebags of all ages at any concert.

I just got back and sadly the festival has turned from a hippie gathering to more of a college party. im far from a hippie but im also no longer a frat dude. i just wasnt really sure what type of vibe i was getting from the crowd. nonetheless, the music and the drugs were good so i had a great time.
