I am certainly NOT standing up for Bryn Hartman, but, guys, do not, *AHEM* DO NOT tell your wife you are leaving her and then roll over and go to sleep, especially when you know she has emotional and chemical dependence problems.
Just a little hint 'n a half from Fuzzy.

I'm not sure what this means. Siskel died of a brain tumor and everyone else mentioned in this thread either OD'd or were shot.

Phil was THE BEST bar none.
fucking a well told. it was only after he was making me laugh out loud for the first time watching SNL in Years, that I discovered he was part of writing much of the Pee-Wee Herman stuff, someone else can give the details, I just remember, I think, they co-wrote the damn first movie, or the first TV special [with Laurence Fishburnes as the Cowboy!].
Whatever; you're right how horrible to go like that.
Candy? A shock, but not a big surprise.
Farley? Not a big surprise.
Radner? Tragedy.
Belushi? Classic Tragic Hero. And I'm not blowing Smoke coz Ron likes him; sheeesh I thought he Rocked in that movie with Blair Brown, Continental Divide [?]; and even I realize it's a piece of shit, but showed he could indeed bridge the gap. He could have pulled off a serious role. Neighbors? not enough distance from his other stuff; but still, I fucking love it. Like a Twilight Zone episode.
He's still the worst loss, for me. Interms of lost potential.
Hartman luckily, gave us tons of funny stuff to remember him by.
What was it? The cereal with the fiber of 300 bowls of regular cereal? Colon Blow? I had to take a knee.

I'm sorry, first she calls certain celebs fags, tehn tries to change it to call us fags for appreciating their work (and the tragedy of one of the deaths), and then... sorry, I have no idea what her response to you means, Mojo.
But I do have a present for you, LS.

I highly recommend the SNL Best of Phil Hartman that just came out on DVD. Excellent stuff. It includes his audition and a never before seen dress rehearsal along withsome dress rehearsal outtakes that are hysterical.

I'm really let down by those SNL DVD's, especially for guys like Hartman. They could easily cram on a good 5-6 hours of material at the very LEAST, and instead they settle for like 3 hours, at the most. And aren't some of the skits just edited down to clips?

Yes, they could put A LOT more material in there. Considering this was a DVD I expected a ton of bonus features. However, the ones they are selling now only cost $20, so I can't say I'm getting ripped off. Alas, I'm a die-hard Phil fan so I'll settle for this.
With Hartman, you're pretty limited seeing as how he can't do a commentary or anything. I guess you could have commentary by Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz and maybe a documentary on his impact on the show. As for the skits, all the skits are there in full force. What is edited down is the dress rehearsal, but there isn't a great deal of substance to them to begin with. For example, there was an infomercial where Christina Applegate was playing Cher. Phil messed up his line and then turned to the audience and said "Fuck it, it's dress", then fade to the next dress sketch. So, you are getting the important part of those skits with a little missing. As for the never before seen sketch, and his audition, those are shown in their entirety.
