Does anyone here have a hobby, besides posting on this board?? I know some people like mizzle are amateur astrnomers.
I have just joined a fantasy baseball league with some people from the board which is fun. I also build robots. I just finished my newest one tonight. I designed my own circuits, printed my own board, powered it, built it. Basically Everything. And I wrote the program to make it run. I used a simple micro-controller hooked into a breadboard. I also used a single pull double pull switch so I can adjust the way it walks on the fly. Soon I am ordering a sonar receiver which I will hook into the micro-controller so it can automatically avoid objects. Eventually I am going to add on a camera and either make it record things as it walks, or try and program it to reconize objects. Its a very cool hobby. Very time consuming and frustrating, and expensive, but way worth it.
These are 2 pics of it on my desk. It walks, maybe I will take some video and host it and provide a link later on.

My hobby is woodworking. I have a nice workshop in my house and spend most of my time down there. I build a lot of the furniture I have and have made some pieces for some friends. I spend way too much money on tools though. But its a great hobby. Its very relaxing and I really, really enjoy it.

I always thought Kenny Allen was one of Fez's voices, but who knew that JPNICK was the person behind the character.

Is excercising considered a hobby? I always do those crafty things at the library (like paint rocks). I also raise hermit crabs, collect Care Bears, and obsess about English monarchy.

In the Plantagenet line of succession, King Richard I (the lionheart) was homosexual, as was Edward II. Both of these monarchs had wives.
King Richard I never had any children with his wife-- he ignored her completely, in favor of young minstrel boys. He was a great King with military prowess, and the people loved him dearly (being the son of the infamous Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine). His failings were 1) not having an heir, 2) having a romantic friendship with the king of France, who later stabbed him in the back, and 3) leaving England early in his reign for years in order to battle the Saracens who were threatening the Catholic religion. He took up the cross with the King of France, and remained in the crusade even after the King of France departed. Many battles were won, but there was no great outcome of this holy crusade. Upon his return to England (he was called back by his mother-- the regent-- to settle many uprisings in England); he was captured and held in prison. As the legend goes, a young minstrel boy went out to find his king. He found him by standing outside of a castle and singing a song that he and the king had created together. He sang the first verse, and the king, held as a prisoner in the castle, sand the second verse out of his prison window. The English people paid a hefty ransom to get their king back, and upon his return, he never recalled his wife, the ill-fated queen who was far away. They didn't reunite until a year before his death, but they never had any children. When he died, his shady brother, John, came to throne-- a known lecher with women of all kinds.
Further down the family tree, Edward the II came to the throne, and he married a princess from France. Unfortunately, he too, favored men over women, although this queen lured him into her bed so that they may create an heir. His reign was weak and full of turmoil. He showered favors and titles on his beloved male companion, who was later on, by the government, sent into exile. Edward II recalled his lover back to England, but to no good at all. This male companion had too much power, and the people rose against this king and his paramour. His wife, at this time, had gone back to France to raise an army to take her husband off of the throne and put her son, the heir, a young boy at the time, on the throne in his stead. This was a success, and Edward II had to give up his crown to his son. He was put into a prison, where he died a mysterious awful death. Some say he was sleeping on a mattress on his prison floor. The men who were his caretakers, under the direction of the Queen and her lover, murdered him in a most ruthless manner. They placed a table over his sleeping body so that he could not move. Then they put a hot steel rod into his anus to burn his innards. It was said his wails of pain could be heard throughout the castle and beyond its walls. He died with an excruciating grimace on his face.
It was whispered that Richard II may have been into men as well, but that is not as well known as the other two cases. They said this because he too had much favored male companions that he showered with gifts. What was different about this situation was that his Queen also favored the presence of the King's male favorite. They too did not have any chidren. When his Queen died, he married a young princess, who he could not couple with for many many years to come. They never did, in fact, sleep together. This King was forced to give up his crown to his cousin when the people rose against him.
If you look at my webpage (http://www.pagerealm.com/katylina/p1.html), you will see how obsessed I am with the monarchy of England. There is even a link to a Tudor web page, where you can play interactive games and have a conversation with King Henry VIII.

I remember the first time I saw A Lion in Winter and the gay theme sort of came through with Richard. That was the first I had heard of it. But I've read up on the English royal lines too.
I was a history major for a short time in college.
as for hobbies, not much. I took up fencing last year. that's about it.

I absolutely loved that movie, but I wish they had one that depicted the early relationship of Eleanor and Henry II.

In sorta kinda chronological order
I built those Estes Model Rockets and was in a club for that.
I discovered porn.
I built a zillion Plastic Models; mostly WW2 through Jets.
Astronomy.

I'm woefully naive on the history of the last 500-1000 years of Europe. The monarchs are indeed an interesting lot; no Soap Opera ever written can come close to the weirdness that is the Royals of Europe.
The absolute carnage of the europe of that age also amazes; as does the carnage of the century past.
And dont get me started on the dark ages. grrrrrrrr....

I like history and pre-history, regarding the evolution of man to the current state. I collect coffee and tea pots from Corning, particularly the blue cornflower ones. I also collect the green glass insulators that use to be in top of telephone poles. I do long distance walking as my primary excercise if you can consider that a hobby. I have a few too many pairs of shoes and boots. I love science and astronomy and geology.

Oh, and the robot thing, I see lots of stuff that youd probably like in that american science and surplus catalog. Only they can write about light emitting diodes and make them sound hilarious.
