This is a fascinating site.
It is a picture tour of the area around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which has been abandoned since 1986.
It shows how people's lives just stopped and changed in a matter of hours.
The woman who travels through the zone also gives an excellent historical and present narrative with the photos.
How many people died of radiation? No one knows - not even approximately. The official casualty reports range from 300 to 300,000 and many unofficial sources put the toll over 400,000.

Edit: DAMN! Didn't see the other post and who would think Chernobyl would get two posts.
