View Full Version : Gail Kim... from, uh, Korea!

I know Gail Kim is Korean-Canadian. And I know that wrestler introductions from the same city in the same match are usually... awkward. But couldn't they find Gail to be from somewhere else? I mean, "Korea"? It hasn't existed for a while, last I checked.

So let's make a game: Find a new place for Gail Kim to be from. Even make a photoshopped pic!

It's all part of the WWE's plan to totally disavow that any of their workers are from Canada.

From Atlanta, Georgia.....Chris Benoit!

From Manhassit, New York.....Chris Jericho!

From Korea....Gail Kim!

Watch, next week it'll be:

From Easter Island.....Edge!

Don't blame me....I voted for Kodos.
I look forward to an orderly election that will eliminate the need for a violent bloodbath. </center>

No, because Trish was introduced from being from Toronto during the match. It struck me as weird that not only wasn't Gail introduced from being from somewhere in Canada, she was being introduced from a country that doesn't even exist. Of course, that could be a Lillian Garcia gaffe... but still...

For what it's worth, Jericho is American as well as Canadian. Even though his parents are Canadian and he grew up there, he was born here, so.... count it.

I'm guessing American hometowns makes WWE superstars more marketable. I don't know. Obviously Benoit lives in Atlanta because of Nancy, but still...

I know Gail Kim is Korean-Canadian.

Perhaps related to the famous Dr. Kim, who was interviewed about the Asian Year of the Horse on WNEW. If memory serves the people who Dr. Kim were subjected to included:

Ron Bennington
Fez Whaltey
Andre The Giant
Jan Brady
Iris from Brooklyn
Kenny Allen

in a roundtable

---

for those who don't know; perhaps the funniest interview on R+F EVER.

Really? Then where are all the people today that were living there prior to "a while" before 10:59pm last night?

a) Americans are geographically challenged when it comes to Asia

b) People usually refer to it as just Korea, unless it's a reference to the political climate or the war.

My point is this...

1) Korea does not exist. You can BE Korean, but you can't come FROM Korea. At least, not if your Gail Kim's age.

2) I do not understand why Gail hails from Korea all of a sudden.

3) Lillian Garcia may have messed up.

Kim Jong Il is inciting this, Jon. Are you a sympathesizer?

I respectfully disagree on both points.

a) I know exactly where Asia is, they are just down the street from me and run a Cafe.

b) To a person, every Korean that I know who are either a 1st or 2nd generation immigrant tells me specificially "North" or "South" Korea when asked where they are from.

At the very least, he should have been given a City to go along with the "Korea" location.

What I want to know is why there isn't any fair representation of wrestlers from Parts Unknown anymore.

Could it be a tax issue?
Maybe they're all becoming US citizens or somehow trying to avoid the much higher Canadian income tax rates?
Then announcing yourself as being from Edmonton, or Winnipeg, or Vancouver might cause a problem with that effort.

The "Atlanta Crippler" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
I would prefer Lillian Garcia to announce: "From the face-sitting capital of the world....THIS-IS-GAIL-KIM"

"And they ask me why HighFly drinks."It's funny, my friend and I went into a Parts Unknown discussion during Wrestlemania and why we think Parts Unknown isn't as well represented as it once was.

Parts Unknown had a lot of great talent. Who knows that else could come out of there. And does anybody have a list of the wrestlers that came from Parts Unknown? I do know that the Headbanger's hailed from, "My Own Personal Hell."
