God, I was so into All My Children. I still remember the first time I watched it - it was the early 80's, and hot Jenny Gardner was being tormented by nasty Liza Colby because Jenny's father was a rapist. (Jenny was played by a Kim Delaney).

Meanwhile, Jenny's Mama, Opal, was shacking up with old coot, Langley Wallingford, thinking he was rich, not knowing that he was really a con man and that it was the wife, Phoebe, that was rich.

Then there was Palmer Cortlandt, who was actually plotting to kill his wife, Donna! And Erica Kane was involved with someone whose father was a Nazi!

Shit! I was hooked!

All through college I stayed up on it, and occasionally watched some other stories - One Life To Live, General Hospital and Santa Barbara - but I always came back to AMC. I used to want to write for them.

(I still love the late 1980s One Life stories of them traveling back to the old west, just in time for the writer's strike, and they had no idea how to end the story!)

Aside from Kim Delaney, on All My Children we got to see very young and hot Lauren Holly, Sarah Michelle Gellar and another actress whose been on tons of things, but whose name I can't remember.

Eventually I dropped them all, including AMC about 5 years ago, only occasionally catching moments here or there.

Then, five weeks ago, I got cable again and discovered SoapNet, and god damn it to hell if I am back up to speed. Nothing seems more wasteful than paying money for cable, and then watching pretend people in Pine Valley.

They've made it easy to get back into with having so many of the old time characters there, and such amazing women these days - the actresses that are playing Kendell and Greenlee and Bianca and some of the others - woof! The whole baby switching story line is just nuts, as Mark said. Really good, cheesy, daytime drama, yet it's not coming across as jive. AMC will be lucky if they can hold onto the actress who plays Bianca, because she's scary good.

Aside from AMC, I also sort of count Sopranos and 24 as soap operas.

The whole baby switching story line is just nutsNot to mention the fact that it makes no sense! Paul told Babe she had a boy. She even held the kid. This is BEFORE he drugged her. How is it that she wakes up from her "coma" and doesn't bat an eyelash when told her "baby girl" is fine?? What about Bianca? They told her that her baby is gone, but she's supposed to be sure it was HER baby that died and not Babe's, based on the recollection of ONE man? Blood test! If this were anything like real life, that's the first thing they would have done! I've watched AMC since I was 7 and this is like the 15th time they've done a baby switch. I'm exhausted.

Maybe it's because I've been away from it for awhile that I can forgive it a bit, or maybe i just like the scenes with Biance and Kendell, but as insane and unrealistic as it is, it sucked me back in.

Of course they are going to figure out Babe's baby is Bianca, and then it will be the Chandlers who will think their baby is dead, and that (I'm afraid) they are going to drag on for a long fucking time.

Here's my radio psychic - the real father of Babe's baby isn't either JR or Jamie, but rather Paul, which is why when they do the blood test, it will come up as a match for his chubby faced sister, Kelly.

I can already see, by the way, them pairing some folks up - JR and Kendell seem a natural, and Greenlee and Bobby.

Silera - It's not a job I need (although I am always looking), it's a life!! Thanks to "SoapNet" I catch this shit on during Primetime - 8pm, or in the middle of the night, or all during the weekends.

I have instructed friends to shoot me if they find out I'm watching the Soap talk show they produce.

I wrote this question to Soap Opera Digest a couple months ago and I've yet to receive an answer...
On General Hospital, why did they use the same actress that played Ned's rape accuser last year to play the new Sage Alcazar? Did they think we wouldn't notice? Who is she blowing? Did I go into a time warp and miss any valid explanation for this?

If you include spanish soap operas then I watch all the time. I have no clue as to what is happening. Who is banging who, or even what the hell each persons name is. But there are a ton of hot spanish pieces of ass shown with the least amount of clothing on. The best part is there on late at night.

My favorite episode was when this hot spanish brunnette was yelling at this hot blonde. They ended up fighting with each other untill the old grandma came in and broke it up. Best part was they were in these slutty dresses. Muy Bueno!

Days did the same thing with the new, recently dead Roman. Before he was the new Roman he was someone else, in a totally different and dead storyline from probally at least 5 years before it. This same guy played the father on the hogan family/ Valerie years back and is fairly well known actor. Josh something.

Kiethy - Even though I didn't watch it, "Timmy
was on PASSIONS. The young actor died in real life on the day his character died on the show - very freaky.

Wadd - Soapnet might get me into Days; I can't believe they are having one of most prominant characters go psycho and kill a little old lady whose been with the show for over 30 years! Just nutty.

THe new Paul is actually the real life brother of the new Kelly. Why they felt the need to do this, I'm not quite sure. I hate them both.

There was a point a year or so ago I turned on AMC and didn't recognize anyone! Then, during the "who killed Michael" story line I started to pay attention (I love those story lines), and before I knew it, I was back on board.

I was sure it was going to turn out to be Bianca's lesbian girlfriend. Oh well.

Ok...question for you since you watch GH...is Skye really a Quartermaine? First I heard she was, then I heard she wasn't. How have they handled her relationship with Adam back in Pine Valley?

She's a great character, and it cracks me up to think that she's on GH with her biological father and his family...her biological mother is on OLTL (Raye) and her biological grandmother (Myrtle!) is in AMC world, with her adoptive family, the Chandlers.

One of my favorite Soaps of all time was TWIN PEAKS. Still the best pilot of any television show, that first two hour movie.

There are alot of ideas floating around but I think with all the movie refrences and the way Marlena has been acting like a child (hair flipping tantrum, and words like blabbermouth) either this is a school paper for Will and people will be recast. or Marlena has completely lost her mind and the big twist will be that she is in an institution somewhere and creating this is her mind. Like a daydream. What do you think?

Not being a "Days" watcher, I wonder if a twist like that (which is right out of the "Dallas" hand book, where it turned out all of one season was a dream) would piss off fans? It's hard to imagine writers and producers would paint themselves into such a corner without knowing how to resolve it in a way that fans will want to tune back in.

Kitty Fuck, I dont think so. And Curt, the writter has said the twist is something thats never been done.

What I think is that someone killed all the people up till we see Marlena kill Tony. I think he was the first person she kills. Its easy to imagine her trying to get in the killers head to think like him/her, and then she loses it and starts to think she actually is the killer. So now she believes she killed alll those people. I also dont think the main killer was a girl. Theres really no reason for everybody to think its a female. Tony said he knew who it was and he got his info from Victor, who really was just trying to frame Nicloe. Tony didnt know who the killer was, he was going to announce Nicole was the one at the circus, but later he tells Marlena "I knew it was you" WTF? So ever since then everybody just assumes its a girl cause he said so, and the only logic behind it is that the killer is "cunning" and "smart".

Ive read spoilers and Sammi gets uncuffed and theres a big showdown betwen the 3 in Marlenas place.

And the shits hitting the fan on this show. This week. Everybody in Salem has learned Marlenas the killer so somethings gotta give.

Born Antonia Chandler, she thought she was Adam's daughter her whole life, until it came out a few years back that she wasn't. She then found out her birth mother was Rae Cummings. Upon finding her, she was told that her real father was Alan Quartermaine. A Chandler to a Quartermaine. Not bad. Anyway, Alan accepted his new daughter wholeheartedly, until about a year ago, when Tracy Quartermaine showed up with the news that Rae lied to Alan and Skye was really some other guy's kid. We never found out who. Alan had grown to accept Skye as his daughter up until this point, so he adopted her and she kept the name Quartermaine, just like her adopted sister, Emily. There is no relationship between Skye and Adam. They never mention one another. They had a shitty relationship when they thought they were father and daughter.

One correction - I believe Skye's original name was "Antionette," which was the name of the very first actress to play her on AMC almost 20 years ago at this point. She came to town as a singer, and "Skye" was her stage name - we learned that Adam used to call her "Toni-Bologni," or something silly like that.

Robin Christopher took over shortly after, and played Skye for a number of years. She was married to Tom Cuddahy the same time that Adam was married to Brooke, Tom's ex-wife. She was also involved with Tad. My two favorite old-Skye memories were when she plotted to murder Barbara, and when she was struck by lightning - twice. I also seem to remember she went into a coma, then came out of it, only to pretend she was still in it.

She leaves the show, but the character came back about 7 or 8 years ago, but only with a younger actress. They tried to do some sibling stuff between her an Hayley, with Adam Jr. piling on, saying that he and Hayley have a "We Hate Skye Club." She was married to some guy named Dr. Kinder, who she either helped kill, or cover up, along with Kendell and Janet (wow! can't believe i remember any of that shit). Adam sent her into hiding when she did something illegal regarding Edmund and his family - that I don't remember.

Then she showed up on One Life To Live, but as Robin Christopher - and a year or so later, she's in General Hospital world.

Like I said...(a) one of my favorite characters and (b) I used to want to write for AMC! ha!

Speaking of GH - while I don't really watch it, Tracy is one of the best daytime characters ever.

this thread rules. i watched Days growing up and then a bit in college (also watched the whole series of Dallas on TNN in college...sad, but it seemed okay stoned). my favorite Days storyline was the Cruise of Deception...this was the real 3 hour tour. Jack and Jen getting together for the first time. was it Arnesto Descano as the evil magician guy. Hope was burned to death....or we so thought, again. was so lame, but funny.

when i watched in college it was mainly Sammy being an evil bitch...especially to the better looking girl, whose name i can't remember right now. but Sammy drugged her husband into sleeping with her and then i believe she had Lucas get her pregnant, but said it was the husbands baby. oh and their were two Kristens at the time to.

and then the other day i was off and saw a preview for that days episode and i saw that Alice figured out who the Serial Killer of Salem was...then i saw it was Marlena....despite the confusion of trying to figure out how Marlena, the most annoying good character i remember from watching the show in the past, i was hooked. and she was going to kill poor Alice. so within seconds i called my sister, who i know still watches, and had to get the scoop. i don't watch because i'm not home then, but i will follow the storyline through this thread. please let me know how this ends up.

I was really beginning to like Sami as an actress but now she is starting to sound like Belle and I don't like how they are writing her. She needs to finally hook up with Lucas. I am getting the feeling that she is directly involed in the murders. I don't think she is the killer but I think somehow she is involved.

I dont watch anymore.

I was a HUGE GH fan. i started watching when frisco & felicia first got together. I stopped a couple of years ago after i finished college. yuck...so long ago...bj dying in a school bus accident, and stone dying of aids... best soap ever!!!

I also used to watch one life to live and Days. DOOL just got really really bad.

not sure if this counts, but i watched 90210 religiously...i'm so pissed that i dont get it on cable in my area!!!
