Ever notice on the radio they play Heartbreaker and Livin Loving Maid back to back as almost one song? I never understood why all radio stations do that

because the songs run into each other on the album.

Classic rock stations do the same with Elton John's "Funeral For A Friend" and "Love Lies Bleeding," also the live version of Thin Lizzy's "Cowboy Song" invaribly segues into "Boys are Back in Town." I know there are others, but my mind's running a blank.

This thread might be a tad bit premature - "Twofer Monday" doesn't have much of a ring to it.

Probably the greatest one-two punch of all-time.

I've played in a couple cover bands that did "Ziggy Stardust." As a guitarist, I find it physically impossible to not segue into "Suffragette City." Luckily the rest of the band in both instances knew the tune, which spared us a great deal of embarrassment.

Well I just checked my sheet music and the segue is indeed there for Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding.

Technically it means that the next piece is part of one large piece. Very early on, late 60s this was definately the case, part of the equation of paid album royalties was the number of song titles. This would also be relevant for songwriting and lyrical credits. So; sometimes a band would have a large piece that had a single name; and then they'd divy it up; naming seperate sections, often with different songwriting credits; when it's obviously one song.

Most mentioned here I'd say are two songs. For me, the two above are two parts of one piece. Of course; album rock bands loved to do the whole album as one song thing; there are entire sides of yes and floyd albums without a bit of quiet; but they divide up the song anyway.
